superdoppler | Do I need a metric screwdriver to remove the positive cable from the battery? What size do I need? Thanks! |
ed monahan | I don't think screwdrivers come in metric. As I recall you can use a small metric wrench but I don't recall what mm you need. |
toys | 10mm wrench or socket, disconect the neg cable first & put it back on last. toysThis message has been edited by toys on 02-17-2009 at 10:39 AM |

As many can attest to: We have many metric nuts on the POA, right AC! |
garysss | I have American Nuts! No Metric nuts for me. LOL |
ALLEY CAT | Galaxie > I still have a dozen, left handed, metric, cresent wrenches for sale,,,,,,,you interested in one? I've got to look into those metric screwdrivers though,,,good idea. Tangled and the Lucid Eye lick their metric nuts,,,before getting them off................ |
alrtg | I remember when we started "converting" to the metric system. Funny thing though, it seems we never quite finished and are now left with both. I vote that we go back where we started. Either that or maybe we can start using Whitworth too. quote: Originally posted by catfish: everything went metric,in the us about 20 years ago, dont hold me to the guess.we went metric, because we were the only country in the world, not on the metric system.dumb dumb dumb.i think we again can blame it on our goverment.its way more complicated then the us,sae standards.

Randy Cobb | If you are removing the battery you will also need a 13mm magnetic socket with an extention to remove the nut on the hold down backet. |

Randy, Since so many items are aluminum on our Prowlers, do we need to use our aluminum magnet to retrieve that nut?? |
Randy Cobb | Bradley, No.....The fiberglass magnet will do. |
alrtg | While you guys are at it, how about getting out the sky hook just in case the hood struts don't do their job. |
Dave Haggas | You will find most of the cars on the grid at the 24HR race have a mixture of metric and imperial. This applies to cars that are new as well as seasoned cars. Amazes me really. I had to work on a 2001 F1 car recently only to find that some of the bolts were peculiar to that make of car. The manufacturer made their own sizes and equipment to fit...its a mad world out there! |
ed monahan | I must have 5 or 6 different oil filter wrenches now. Everytime I get a new vehicle, I need a new wrench. |
catfish | they stopped making the imperial along time ago. ------------------
