SimonsezToday my dad was born 106 years ago. On his 25th birthday (the year I was born) he was hired by Republic Aviation. He remained until World War II ended in 1945. I recently did a painting of the P-47 Thunderbolt that was built here in Evansville, Indiana. I plan on donating my painting to the Evansville War Museum in his memory.

SimonsezMy fathers "wings".
cdeluca99WOW!! Congratulations. Your father sounds amazing something to be very proud of. And another beautiful painting. You are very talented my friend. Please post pictures once your painting is in the museum.

ed monahanVery impressive on all fronts. Great work Bruce.
By the way, I painted the shed, lol
garysssPretty Cool on all accounts Bruce! Great job!
BeWareAll things to be proud of.
padrooBruce I see your family has a lot of history with aviation.
A lot of people think of the Spitfire, Mustang or
F-4 Corsair when they think of their favorite WWII airplane, but the P-47 Thunderbolt was the real heavy hitter during the war built like a tank. When I was in the AF Reserves at Grissom In, I worked on the Republic/Fairchild Thunderbolt II, also known as the Warthog.
By the way, mice painting.

SimonsezThanks Dale. I built this large scale P-47 as a remote control. Crashed on it's maiden flight. It's now a static display.
This picture is taken where my dad said all 6,242 Evansville built P-47's rolled out of the production plant.

The building still stands strongly today. In 1955 Whirlpool bought it and made refrigerators in it.

Landscape DoctorAwesome Bruce. Keeping history alive is not easy these day.
SimonsezLD. Unfortunately, when you’re in your 80s you live in the past. Family, friends and memories are all that’s left.
Landscape DoctorI actually think you need to live in the moment while cherishing memories. Enjoy every day not worrying about age,, do what makes you happy.

My Mom will be 82 June 9th. She walks give or take 5 miles a day and still is completely self sufficient in her own home. Luckily genes on her side are good. Her mom and dad passed away at 97,, her oldest brother just passed away at 96. 7 siblings left.

ed monahanWow, that is some family longevity. That is extremely rare, I would guess.
