Steve ConleyACTUALLY GOT MY TRAILER Ordered purple trailer 10 Feb 03 was shipped from AL. 21 Jul 03 received Tuc. AZ. 31 Jul 03. Takes 1 hour to remove from crate and install tow bar. Laying on asphalt to bolt on tow bar was a little warm though. I am very happy with it and it has very good quality and seems bigger inside than it looks on outside. Have already rekeyed lock to fit ignition key. Seems to ride a little low as tires are up inside fenders about 2 inches any ideas anyone.
ALLEY CATSteve - Congrats on getting your trailer!!! A good time to check it out would be this coming weekend's trip with some other Prowler owners over to eastern Arizona (see Az. Devil's Highway event in EVENTS FORUM).

Contact Debbie, Curt, or I if you would like to attend.

BeWare These trailers do ride low. My tires are up inside my fenders as well, but I don't know if it is 2 inches. There is a ridge around the outside edge of my tires before the tread area starts. If this is below or even with the edge of the fender you should be OK. Since thet trailer rides low, it hugs the ground just like the Kat and handles very well. I took some serious canyons at speed out in Utah and Colorodo last year and never gave a second thought that the trailer might tip.
Top KatSteve, did you order your trailer direct from the manufacturer? I understand that can be done now. If so can you pass on any info? I would like to order one as well.
Thanks, Jim
JCProwlerThe trailers are sold out. The only way you can get one is from a dealer that may have one or a used one.
CJTopkat...........the trailers were actually comprised of components from three different companies. One did the trailer bodies, one did the wheels and the other did the frames and titled them.
Top KatOh well, when you snooze - you loose!! I guess I'll wind up buying one of the Street Rod trailers. There are lots of different styles available, and they look pretty Kool . Some even have more capacity than the Prowler Trailer. I don't really need one. Most trips that are longer than overnight, my car is a "trailer queen" anyway. It rides around in it's own garage, which also serves as the luggage trailer. ( you see what I'm doing here!!! I'm trying to talk myself out of wanting one!!! )

onaprwlSteve, This may sound like a lot of work but believe me it's worth it. I picked up my trailer about a month ago and when I got home and hooked it up to the Prowler I knew that wasn't going to work. I ordered a set of 20" rear Prowler wheels, wheel spacers, and put tires somewhat alike on the trailer. Now the only thing I didn't like was the closeness of the tire to the trailer at the top so I made a 1 1/2" steel spacer to go between the axle and the frame spaceing the top of the tire and the trailer about 2" apart. It now sits even with the car and looks fantastic. These tires should make the trailer track a lot better behind the car not allowing so much bouncing. Now to get Kal to paint my bra to match the car and I'm done. Then I will post some pictures. Hope this helps some.

PJIf the Kat trailers consider this "Champion Lugagage trailer". I have $2590 total in this. See previous post
"alternate to Prowler trailer".
WAYNEWI put 20" stock rear prowler wheels on my trailer, this included a 2 1/2" full aluminum frame lift with a dimond plate over the sides and moving the axle back 1 1/2" to center the tires in the wheel wells and then, I put in wheel spacers. It now looks like the trailer was made to have 20" wheels. This is a must do for trailer owners. You can see my trailer at: http://www.lordofthelooks.com/events/Schulenburg%20Parade%202/schulenburg_2.htm

Wayne FinchWayne, the 20 inchers don't look too bad. The stock 15's are definitely too small. Since the trailer is built to spec 90% of the rear of the car, I'd guess 18's would be perfect, but there aren't any of those
JCProwlerThe only thing I did with my trailer, I painted the tug powder coat semi-black.

WAYNEWFYI to all trailer owners, the latch that holds the lid down brakes off, bracket & latch and the whole lid will then lift up when speeds are above 60 MPH and you find all your stuff on the road. This happened to me this week end. I also know of the front post that holds the lid on braking off.

------------------

Top KatWaynew, I saw a post on one of the other forums that you may want to check out. Someone has made a stiffener for the latch to solve this problem.

ed monahanLarry Lord is selling the kit. His mother just died this week so you may not get a rapid reply.
PJStreet rodders have been using the Champion trailers for years without experiencing the poor quality in construction some of you prowler trailer owners are experiencing or hearing about.
The sides are 16" deep all around. If the lid was left unlatched your stuff could not fall out.
BeWare I have had my Prowler trailer nearly four years and have never had a problem. Not even a flat. About a year ago I reinforced the latch but it showed no signs of coming loose. Did it for cheap insurance. My trailer probably has 20,000 miles on it. With anything made there will some with a problem, whether you pay $5 of $50,000.
cmblockhusI have had this trailer about 6 weeks towed it 2 miles home and installed Larrys stand and wont be towing it anytime soon working with some people to make a clear 3m bra dont like the factory one but have it in case this other deal dies on me

Trailer Latch Reinforcement Kits

When I was on a Prowler cruise, I watched as a friends trailer lid came open and two suitcases went sliding across the freeway. His trailer latch mount plate come loose from its bond to the trailer body causing the lid to open while he was driving at speed on the freeway.
I know that others have also had the same problem with their latch mount plates breaking loose. FMB now manufactures a latch mount reinforcing bracket that eliminates this problem. The FMB Latch Reinforcement Kit also doubles as a security feature for your License plate and frame.
The FMB Trailer Latch Reinforcement Kit a formed, pre-punched and brush finished T-6 aluminum reinforcement bracket and all the required stainless steel installation hardware and easy installation instructions.
Don't wait until it's too late and your stuff is in the middle of the road!
Add $8.00 for shipping.
