SILVRKATLast Sunday as we were coming back from graduation ceremonies in Fairfax VA we pulled up along side of a '56 T-Bird with some woman driving and husband was passenger. I gave a friendly toot as we pulled along side, we were in my 2000 silver kat...the bit*h did not even look over. They pulled right up next to us at a light and looked the other way to avoid eye contact.
If I could have raised up in the seat I would have shot her a moon!
I thought back this was the main reason I got rid of my antique car and stopped going to AACA car shows, a damn bunch of old snobs.
They really get bent when you have something better than them. I took a beautiful bone stock '50 Ford coupe (AACA First Place Show Winner)-chopped the top, dropped it down on the ground, leaded everything, put loud pipes on it and use to take it to any AACA shows and park it as close to the show field as I could and watch the crowd gather around my car....gawd the old AACA farts hated that!
Sold that car and have not gone near an AACA show since! Now that I think they might hate Prowlers as much as Hot Rods and Kustoms, I just might have to go and park the Prowler where they and the crowd can see it!
I get more looks, thumbs-up, waves and photos snapped in the Prowler than all my other cars combined. I also have more fun driving it than any of the others!!
Dave MillsI have to agree with you. I dropped out of the local AACA for the same reason. When I joined in 1974, the only collector car I had was my 1951 Plymouth. Most of the members were driving stuff from the 20's and 30's and they were pretty snobish about it. I have not found any change in the AACA attitude over the years. I tried to go back once in the mid 90's, but the old attitude seems to die hard. Two meetings and I quit again. I still keep up my national membership, but I have no idea why.
ChromerThe '56 T-Bird is nice...but no reason to be a snob..
Lone Ranger
I would sooner have my kat.
SILVRKATJust a thought...maybe she thought my kat was gonna' eat her bird! I'll bet that was it!
dreamcast18Silver,

There's always 2 camps..
those that love the kat....and those that are envious with snobbishness attached.

We were @ the Camirillo outlets yesterday, and a little girl not older than 5 yrs, kept staring @ the Kat..and smiled! Now...that's innocence with appreciation!

MDProwlerAways someone who just don't get it.

So Silvrkat, are you joining us on the Maryland lighthouse cruise?

CJIf you're a person that truly appreciates and loves cars, then you appreciate all cars.........maybe she was jealous that that your cat was stealing her "Thunder".......cats eat "birds"!
GeneI don't believe you should judge all of us old farts because of one bad experance. Also This old fart owns a Kat-streetrod-and a mustang custom which says I like them all.
SILVRKATI'm 62 pushing 63 but I'm not an old fart. I just use that term for arrogant old bastards that seem to be attracted to antique cars and boats.
SILVRKATMDProwler...Would like to join in on the MD Lighthouse Tour, as long as there are no Old Farts who will be snubbing my Prowler because it has a couple of scratches on her nose and a little road rash here and there (it has 35,000 Smiles on it)!
Only one real problem, my lady friend would like to go, but her first question was...where do I put my clothes, hair stuff & make-up...on my lap? I would definitely need a trailer just for her stuff for a two day trip!
Ed W.Over the past few years (long before our Prowler), I've developed a fondness for the two-seater T-Bird, 1st gen Chevy II's & Novas, Chevelles, 5-7 Chevy's, Mustangs, Cuda's, and many Vette's. Unfortunately many (not all) of them are now owned by arrogant idiots. I've learned to love the cars, but not the owners. Life is just too short!

quincyDreamcast18,
As the saying goes, out of the mouth of babes.....about a week ago I was sitting at a red light, top down, when a young girl, who was on the sidewalk, started screaming and jumping up and down "Purple car, Purple car, I love you Purple car". Sums everything up in one succinct sentence don't you agree?
SILVRKATEd W
That sums it all up perfectly!
"Styling & engineering never falls out of favor, ego & arrogance are never accepted".
Got to remember that one for sure!

ed monahanMaybe it was Suzanne Sommers in the Bird and she does not want to be bothered with fans!!!
It could happen.
SILVRKATI could forgive Suzanne Sommers, it was definitely not her!
