I just got my Mulholland in mid December. Today my wife and I decided to take a drive and get some lunch. Since it was a cold but sunny northern California day, I decided to put on the hardtop. I have not really tried it since I got it. The drive from San Rafael to Point Reyes Station has some good turns but the road can get a little rough. The problem was the extreme rattling that came from the back of the top. It was very noisy as if it were bouncing up and down. When I got back home I checked the top to see if it was attached well and it does seem to be firmly attached and the pins seem to be all the way in but when you push up on it you can see light between the top and the rear deck. When I first test drove the car the top was on and I don’t remember hearing anything like we experienced today. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks. |

The pins are adjustable. Once you dial it in put some locktite on them.... or buy some longer pins. I think northern cat was selling them or you can buy them form TGF. They made the tops. This message has been edited by blackcat on 01-20-2008 at 10:47 PM |

Try adjusting the J-hooks a little tighter....I had a noise that I thought was coming from behind me, but it went a way when I tightened the front hooks... ------------------ ProwlerStuff.com This message has been edited by Pantera on 01-25-2008 at 09:06 AM |

Most everyone has had that problem. I got the pins from Northern Cat. First class product, and it solved my problem. I found I had to drive it, adjust it, drive it, adjust it, drive it, and so on. Finally got it right. |

I tighten mine down so tight that I push down on the hardtop with my right hand as I reach inside and push up on the deck lid with my left hand until it "clicks" catches. While making adjustments I put a couple of folded towels on the deck lid under the top while working on the adjustment and then remove the towels and try it. If it needs more adjustment put the towel under the top again. That way you don't have to keep removing the top between adjustments. |

What ever adjustment you do make, make sure that when you put your windows all the up they don't want to lift the top also, or it can wreak havoc on your window regulator. I also found that spraying some rubber specfic silicone on all the window rubber & hard top seals helped with that. toys |

Thanks folks, Those are some good suggestions. This is a great site. I have learned much going through some of the old posts and just reading the current ones. |
