Well I need to pick the brains of everyone here again. I want to paint the front suspension of my red cat. I know most people will have the parts chromed or polished but I want to paint them bright silver. I want to do the work myself and do as little disassembly as I can. Also what kind of paint should I use, I know I have to make sure the parts are very clean but what else. Any tips would be great!

Randy

1. I would never consider painting assembled because A)It would be next to impossible to get an even coat of paint on all the parts and B) You would have to tape off the whole car to prevent overspray from getting on anything else.

2. If disassembled and painted a brilliant silver metallic with clearcoat it might look pretty good but spray can paints just won't last.

Good Luck with the project/ these are just my opinions

If you take the front end apart you should consider powder coating bright silver. It will last a long time, but for the money I would chrome the front end and be done with it. Looks awesome when chromed on the right color. I will never chrome my suspension, because I don't think it looks good with the Inca Gold. I considered powder coating it black. Then I looks like black chrome. Good luck with your project. Steve

I used aluminum foil and just pulled it real tight to get the wrinkles out. Oh wait a minute, that was the wrinkles on my face. Disregard.
