Hi,

I just purchased a 2000 Prowler with 700 miles, which is currently having a Paxton supercharger, 50 shot Nitro, and a gear upgrade installed. I spoke to a few prowler owners this weekend at the Dream Machines show in HMB, CA yesterday and they all said the same thing. The motor and trans cannot take this upgrade and will both fall apart in no time. Is this true and if so, has anyone run into this? Did you find a better trans to drop into the cat? I am assuming that the motor would need some internal rework as well. Thanks for the help.

First - welcome to POA and prowleronline.com. FRom talking and reading about those with the Paxton, there seems to be no engine problem other than a heating issue as long as you do not push the envelope on boost. I was running a 150 HP shot of nitrous (no SC) and ran lean, burnth three plugs, damaged rings and scored cylinders. My engine is being rebuilt with upgrades to help prevent this in future. The trannies willl eventually give out - usually the 3rd or fourth gear clutch. Only a few have run both SC and nitrous. Hopefully they will reply.

I might suggeest you use the search feature on the main discussion page and read old posts about SC, nitrous and transmissions.

James,

Are you the one that stopped me as I was leaving the show?? I was driving the black prowler that had the G-Force "Cool" side panels with the Cold Air Snorkle and had supercharged by paxton.

You will be fine with the setup you mentioned. The setup RSI is doing for you will put you in the 250's+ rwhp range. This is what I call Paxton's stage I. I have stage III and running great..

HERE IS MY LIST OF AFTERMARKET PARTS

If you don't race it every single day at the track and RSI puts in thier new fuel pump or modified fuel pump. You will enjoy your KAT. There is a chance your engine might run hotter like above the 1/2 point. It might take you to 3/4 while going uphill around here under boost.

Kenne Bell Inc. has figured out how to mess around with the PCM fan settings and bring down your cooling by installing a 160 thermostate and readjusting your turn on points for your main radiator fans.

Here is the thread http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum9/HTML/000694.html

I'm running 332 rwhp and have had alot of fun driving my machine.

Since your doing supercharger and nitrous you will have to definitley run a better fuel pump. Just with the Paxton alone the fuel runs lean. If RSI does not address the fuel issue, I would seriously discourage you from installing nitrous. It will be too risky.

This is what it might look like if you run lean...

Visit my Tech Journal page on my site and you will find alot of stuff.

Good Luck!!

That was me, thanks for taking the time yesterday, didn't want to hold you up, there were so many people at the show, wow, quite a few prowlers as well. After I spoke to you, I felt good about my upgrade decisions, spending that kind of money can make anyone feel uneasy.....then I went into the show, spoke to a few proud prowler owners who ended up freaking me out. They said that my trans and rear would be gone in no time. After debating suicide, I decided to post an ad, this is really a great site, and thanks again for taking the time to post a response.

James,

Of all the prowler owners you talk to back there, only two of them could have given you experianced feedback.

The guy with the black tent and myself!!

I have been fortunate not to break down.

Go for the modification .... You will be happy.
