I had the 'no bus' problem described in many posts. I tried a local guy in Dallas and he thought he had it fixed. Not. Then, I sent it to N.Y. (Eastern Electric) He said it was not repairable and I talked to him recently, he thought it might be the Integrated Circuit. I was going to send him the board, but saw a used cluster on ebay for a 1999 at $1000.
Put it in a week ago, I can see milage, speed and other warning things look good, except I get a deck warning chime. Fuel gauge goes to the top of full and temp gauge not working.
Possibly my fuel sensor is out and could be the temp one also as we did not drive it a lot with the prior cluster problem.

Anyone know where the chime is, so I can disable it, if that is possible. Painful to drive with that.

Sorry for the long saga. Other than this we have not had many problems with it and we are the original owners.

Having the dash on and off many times, this is the easiest way. Package of these plaastic tools are available at harbor freighr etc for a few bucks.

I bought a spare instrument cluster many years ago in case I need it for my 97. If you'd like to try it to see if the cluster you bought is also faulty you are welcome to try it. It is, however, not for sale.

I am in Wylie, just the other side of the DFW metroplex. Let me know if you want to stop by some time and try it out.
