Lower VSL tie rod ends showing boot removed (joints thoroughly cleaned out) and new grease applied to joint. The lower boots were soft and flexible, not perished or brittle and in good working order when stripped out. I suspect the type of grease inside the boot plays a part in terms of degrading the rubber. This message has been edited by ZuluProwler on 03-13-2020 at 11:27 AM |

Upper VSL Heim joints, dust boots removed, cleaned out. The large seat diameter is 32mm and the smaller one 16mm. This message has been edited by ZuluProwler on 03-13-2020 at 11:18 AM |

If using a 3SX Heim joint boot, bear in mind that the diameter of the joint is 1.5". 3SX offer a 1/2" boot and a 3/4" boot. The 1/2" boot is only 1.2" in diameter as shown in the image below. I've requested info about the larger boot but no response yet: This message has been edited by ZuluProwler on 03-13-2020 at 11:22 AM |

I'm disappointed in 3SX. After having my email ignored, I called them. I explained that I needed the dimension of the larger boot. I was told (somewhat curtly) that a technical person would get back to me with the details when they were able to read my email. I politely mentioned that a number of people were interested in the outcome but that did not change the response. So, as directed, I am waiting ....... Must be nice to be so busy that you can blow off a customer this way. Update: I managed to get 3SX to reply to an email. The 3/4" boot has the 1.5" diameter we need for the upper Heim joint. I'm waiting on my Bulgarian boots which after 12 days are now in Chicago. Unless they are a disaster (unlikely) I will not order from 3SX. Others may have a better experience as I believe the boot will work. This message has been edited by ZuluProwler on 03-18-2020 at 11:07 AM |

Success! I received my PolyBoots today, so allow 17 days (including a week lying idle in Chicago) for delivery. They are an excellent product and do precisely what we need them to do. Provided you have good joints and only need re-greasing and new boots, this is the answer. I ordered 8 but only needed 4 and it came to around Euro24 shipped. It took me an hour to strip out my VSL's, install the boots and reassemble. The hardest part is getting the old circlips on. Apart from that, a satisfying outcome with no fuss. I liberally greased the joints before assembly so expect to have no future problems in this area. This message has been edited by ZuluProwler on 03-27-2020 at 04:06 PM |

Once assembled, they went into the car with no problems. Remember to remove both upper bolts before swinging the stabilizer tube downwards. You'll need a Torx T40 and an 18mm wrench to remove the lower ball joints. I did mine with the car on the ground, no jack stands, and it was no sweat at all. I looked at the Polyboots a while a go but never tried a set. Sizes seemed off and product was in Bulgaria. Great that you ventured on and tried them. This is a perfect fix for a lot of Prowlers ! THANK YOU ! |

Very welcome, I'm sure. I also have 4 boots extra that I'll send to a good home if anyone has a need. I've shut down PayPal due to some problems so they'll be free for now to anyone who does not mind waiting for the USPS to accept them. And shipping needs to be low, so sorry, nothing is going to Iceland :-) |

Here's an image that shows the dimensions on the boots themselves for those who no longer have X4 reading glasses. 15mm small hole |

Ricksprowler is getting the boots. He was hyper quick... And then came full lockdown so cannot get to a shipping store. Sorry! This message has been edited by ZuluProwler on 04-01-2020 at 05:47 PM |

I'm ordering some from Polyboots. Because of the virus, they can only ship via Fedex which makes shipping way more than the cost of the boots. If anyone is interested in any , send me a PM. |

My lower ones were totally shot, just as bad as the uppers. I was going to fix the set I took off the Candy and use it on one of the other cars. Not going to happen. |
