So as of yesterday I finally got my Prowler functional! I received the new transmission last week and then scheduled the replacement with my local Chrysler dealer. Here she is being towed to the dealer: Here she is back where she belongs and fully functional: The new tranny came dry so fresh transmission fluid was put in at the dealer. And here are two shots of the old transmission: Very interesting that they put a Prowler badge on it! |

I am happy to hear you were able to find a replacement transmission and have it installed, hopefully without to many complications. I would suggest hanging onto the original transaxle as it may be of some value to someone, some day as a core, or to rebuild. With that said, and only IF you need to make it disappear, and/or simply do not want to hang onto it....I could be possibly interested in it for whatever the shipping costs might be to the East Coast. |

I had very similar experience recently in my 99. So I ordered the input and output sensors and am pissed they didn't arrive today. Supposedly if one of these goes out, the transmission goes nutz. So, I'll try that first. Luckily there is a reputable shop here who can rebuild it if it comes to that. Just got that car last Dec so I'm not happy about the fun being on hold. There are some trans upgrades such as billet aluminum pistons to replace the plastic ones. |

Well, I tried the new input/output sensors. One of them had metal shavings attached. So the transmission is a bucket of bolts. It was shifting hard before. I read a tech bulletin describing how a stuck valve can cause 145psi pressure to ram the torque converter piston into the housing and it will shatter a plate. That explains the metal shavings. So, its off to the transmission shop. Fortunately a HD billet torque converter is available and billet pistons that will solve many of the issues. I'll post an update when I know more |

Hopefully you are back up and running! I get depressed every time she has to go in the shop and I can't drive her! |

I know the feeling. I miss the car quite a bit. The trans is out but not torn down yet. Hopefully this week. I am going to add a large HD trans cooler and external spin on oil filter to combat the overheating. The was trans oil residue caked around the upper vents on the trans case indicating vaporization of the oil- excessive heat. The factory cooler will be removed and the new one mounted in front of the radiator. |
