How do I safely remove and replace the convertible pin insert on the top of the wind shield? These are the ones that guide the pins to the top on the wind sheild before you latch the top down. On order expensive little plastic part, $21.97 a piece!

it snaps in place.if its loose or you break a tab,use some 100 percent silicone sealer or something similar, will hold it in place.

Ask your dealer for the same part for a Sebring. They told me the Prowler part was back ordered,so I bought the Sebring part, which they had in stock. It fit perfectly and cost a lot less.

when you get your new part, look and see where the locking tabs are located.i think there on the circular hole where the pin fits in.i think you need something with a short hook on the end to release it.you will know when you get the new part.its possible you may have to release the bezel and then remove insert.its been quite awhile, since i had one apart.a tip to avoid breaking the insert in the future, make sure the pins line up perfectly with the hole in the insert, those are guide pins and sometimes are a little off of center.also when lowering frt of top onto header, dont just let it drop,do it gently.usually the insert gets broken or cracked from dropping the frt of the top onto the w/s header, and if dropped and pins a little out of alignment it will crack/break the inserts.

I guess if you slam down the front of the top and it doesn't align with the hole it will get cracked eventually.

No won't happen again. When I noticed it I checked the pin alignment. It was cracked on the outer square flange that rest on the bezel the inner conical area was fine. First time I seen it the pieces where still attached so I tried to supper glue them worked for awhile. It's been cracked for years just never got around to replacing them.

Since I'm selling my car, thought I would fix them. One less thing that some one would nickel and dime me on the price when selling.

I also bought new LST hood shocks that had also been shot for years. I'm already too low on the selling price to begin with, Thanks to the economy.
My wife say's I'm an idiot spending more money on the car when I have it up for sale? Guess she's right?
