What will cause the light and buzzer to go off from time to time? I have checked the tire pressures many times, and never find a low tire. It seams to do it most often when first starting car or right after turning on the head lights. |

Batteries in the tire sensors are going dead. A pretty expensive fix! ------------------ |

could be the above.could also be one of the computers also.mine would come on for about 10 minutes than go out.after replacing bcm for another reason,it hasnt happenened since.take to dealer so they can ck.condition of sensors first. 4 sensors are 720.00 list parts only.if they tell you they are needed cause of low batt, there are a/m sensor kits available for less money.do a search for tpms sensors.the batteries are not replaceable in fact sensors. ------------------ This message has been edited by catfish on 07-20-2008 at 04:21 PM |

Is your tire pressure on the edge of the called for tire pressure? When the car sits and the tires cool down the tire pressure drops. As soon as you heat the tires up the pressure increases. For example if the tire calls for 35lbs and you check it when it's hot and it reads 35 lbs exactly, the pressure could drop below 35 while the car sits in a cooler garage. |

Another possible cure is to overinflate the tires and then let the air back out of tires down to the proper pressure. Some claim that worked, years ago. I never had to try it. |

It has been in the 90's every time it has happened. I started carrying a tire gauge in the car to check the pressures. I can't see spending that kind of money to replace the sensors when I am most likely going with non run flats when it comes time to replace the tires. |

if you are going w/the non runflats,i would still want a tpms, due to the fact if you get a flat, you wont know and can do some heavy damage to the car body.you can drive on a runflat.not the nons.they will tear up your car if you get a flat. ------------------ |

what year is your Prowler? If it is a 1997-2001 (mid) it is cheaper to switch to the new TPS that are on 2002 models. This is because the gen 1 TPS are propritary to Mopar and cost $100+ EACH! Converting to the new TPS system will save you $165. Check out this posting for more info: ------------------ |

My sensors haven't worked for years and I have never missed them. Of course, there is that piece of black electrical tape covering the light, but you can't even see it. |

I inflated all the tires to 60 psi and then back down. I drove for about 30 mins. and no light, buzzer. I will let you all know after this weekend of cruising. It is a 2000 with 62,000 miles. This is the second set of tires. |

I am getting close to the 10 year mark. I just got off the phone with The Tire Rack. They have OE sensors from them for my 1999 for $86.00 each. For the newer cats they are $40.00 each. If interested, call Reggie at 888-541-1777 Ext: 644 He was very helpful. As info, I'm putting on a new set of Foose Legend wheels, so I'm going with the WallyGator solution from Tire Rack. Hope this info helps someone...
