Hey guys I need some prowler advice here if possible?? I will keep it short , I have a 2001 prowler and yesterday while sitting in the drive thru my car started to over heat, what caught my attention was the check gauge light came on and by that time it was buried in the hot zone , ALOT of antifreeze shot out from the bottom ,not sure if it came from the weep hole down by the block or from the over flow but from what it looks like underneath the car is that all the fluid shot out the weep hole and I means lots , reason why I ask if it could be a water pump ??? I have added fluid back and now car will not leak a drop of water but still over heats ??? does this sound like a waterpump or maybe a thermostat ??? I'm clueless , I'm taking car in today for a diagnosis , was just hoping there was something I can try myself to save money , I received a price quote from the dealer to replace waterpump and 775.00 big ones !!!!!! WOW !!! wish I had bought the extended warranty !!! |

Hey Phatcat, Just replaced my water pump on Saturday. Give me a call at 509-525-1107 if you wish. Sounds like a stuck thermostat to me. The "weep hole" most likely will produce only a hand size puddle of fluid in twenty-four hours with a bad pump. A defective radiator cap can cause major fluid loss through the overflow tube and overheating of the engine. If the pump is bad and needs to be replaced, be sure to replace the engine timing belt which also drives the water pump. Good luck, Larry Bowton ------------------ |

Something has happened, but if it lost much fluid up probably have an air pocket. Whenever adding antifreeze you should open the vent in the front of the engine to get all the air out Have not had to do this to mine but one owner did here at the house when his was running hot. Seemed to take care of the problem. It looks like a bleeder for the brakes. A small tube can be put on it to keep the antifreeze from going all over the engine. Located front center on the engine, but not 100% sure where to tell you to look and my car is not at the house to look at. Good Luck ------------------ |

PHATCAT.. Josh, I went by and looked at your car up on the rack. Sorry to say, but it for sure is the waterpump. Lots of stains from the water leaking thru the bottom of the pump. You already know that you are in good hands with the Preston Chrysler folks. It was kinda cool seeing 3 Prowlers in the Prowler Bays. Good luck. PS.. Your tires look good... Wana trade?? |
