Ok... I'm posting this for Sunshine. She just bought Ed's 99 red and this morning she is saying when she starts it up it dings and there is a light that says check autostick. She drove it to her local mechanic, Pedro de Vaca, who had no idea what to tell her, so he called his friend to come look at the car, etc...
Anyone ever gotten this before? Dinging with the check autostick light?

I'm hoping she will see this and maybe add some details.

I don't ever recall seeing a light that says "check autostick" The word Autostick that lights up on the speedo is normal. The dinging could be that she has the light switch turned one too clicks to the left.

Now I am hearing that it may have been the Deck Door light... I hope she posts, cause it kinda makes a difference... LOL. I know how to solve that one. Thanks Marty for your best guess. I sent you a PM about travel. Links in the email I got don't seem to work.

By all means don't her drive with the deck lid not secured! If it opens while she's going down the road, she's goign to hear something a lot worse that a "dinging" sound!

THIS JUST IN FROM HOUSTON!!!!!!

Stopped by to see Neal at Preston Chrysler in Dallas....

He talked with Sunshine on the phone and solved the problem... Deck lid was not closed good. A simple slam and it is as good as new.

Not to rub it in or anything like that (Everybody knows how nice I am.. LOL) It seems that Ms. Sunshine may need glasses to read the little messages on the dash. Check Deck Lid .. Looked like ... Check AutoStick.
I wonder if 110 on the speedometer looks like 70.

Ms Sunshine thanks everyone for the help. Maybe we can get her to post one of these days.

Man was she ever lucky she did not try to drive the car with the deck not secured. I hope someone has instructed her on how to properly secure the top when it's down.

It seems that everyone wanted to see her HOT new car and even offered to put the top up for her last night. You would think she has a new Grandbaby instead of a new car. She is VERY careful and is open to input from the seasoned Prowler owners. So far, She has learned about the 4:00 position to fill the gas tank.. Latching the back of the soft top before the front latches. Put the top up when it is raining.. To keep her eyes on the road because everybody else is looking at her... how to check to assure the deck lid is latched properly and that she has lots of support from this site.

Now, Wait until Ed tells her about his adventure getting back home from Texas. As usual, Ed went above and beyond what most reasonable people would do when they sell a car.. But who ever said Ed was reasonable.

Pretty funny story (At least to me), but it wasn't me on the bus for 23 hours. Nobody can tell it like Ed can, so I will keep it to myself until he shares the adventure. At least he wasn't put in jail for going 107 MPH.
Mickey, Thanks for being there to help.

I got home after 23 hours, so some sleep was in order. I assure EVERYONE that I showed her how to close the trunk and to ALWAYS double check by pulling on it. That was discussed at length. I also told her to tie down the top, since it can get pinched or can rub on the edges of that carpet material. I told her about the gas filling problem.
I told her not to lean in and release the seat back since she will get a headache. I told her to gently drop the top onto the deck lid and the top of the windshield so she does not break the plastic inserts.
That being said, I tried my best.
The bus ride from hell will come at a diff. time. Too long to type it tonight. Unreal is the short version.

Okay, here is the story. I was going to meet Denise in Memphis, TN, about half way. Her hubby was flying his own plane and maybe would be flying me on home. I left at 9 PM Sat. evening, drove until about 5 AM, got a motel room and slept until about 10 AM. Got up and washed the car and was about 5 minutes north of Memphis when Denise called.
They got caught in a bad storm and had to return to Houston. Now what! I decided to drive across Arkansas and meet them whereever they could get to. They couldn't fly and I wound up driving all the way to Texarkana, which is on the Texas border. Since I was not planning on being gone past Midnight Sunday I did not bring all my meds. I am diabetic, have high blood pressure and have had a heart attack and have high clolesterol and a lot of allergies. I actually need to take those meds. Turns out Denise's friend is diabetic and got a prescription filled and gave me enough diabetic meds for 4 doses.
It turned out that the bus station was about 1/2 block from where we met. I went inside and a bus was on its last call. It was headed North. I told the guy I needed to get to Cincinnati. He told me it was not leaving for another 4 1/2 hours. I asked about the bus that was leaving. He said he could not get a ticket printed fast enough for me to get on and get to Cincy. I told him to get me on the bus and I would get the rest of the ticket up the road.
The bus was headed to Joplin and then K.C. I had Joplin mixed up with Hannibal. I thought it was headed northeast, not directly north. My mistake.
A couple hours later the bus stopped because a woman's water broke and she had to be taken off the bus. We had to get off first. They had called ahead for an ambulance.
The next bus had a guy "huffing" glue in the back seat. He was in the last seat and the bus driver told him to turn his radio down. He was listening on a headset and the bus driver could hear it from the last seat.
The next bus had a crazy woman who wanted to get off the bus at 4 AM near Ft. Leonard Wood in the middle of nowhere, in the mountains. She paced up and down the aisle for quite awhile, picking up her stuff and then putting it back on the seat. She would ask the bus driver a question and then walk away while the driver answered.
When I finally got to Indy they told me it was 7 hours until the bus to Cincinnat, via Louisville. I told them I would go to Dayton and catch a ride. They told me "NO" several times but I finally got on the bus and got to Dayton at 4:30 PM on Monday. I left Texarkana at 6:30 PM on Sunday so it was 22 hours plus another 45 minutes home. My first Greyhound trip.
When I got home I had an email from Delta Airlines that one of next weekends internet deals is Memphis to Cincy for $ 109. I tried to get a plane and they wanted to take me from Memphis to Atlanta and then Chicago and then Cincy for about $ 600 one way. I would not have been able to fly from Memphis anyway. Long bad trip.
Oh, I forgot. While the guy was huffing the glue, I was getting a headache which reminded me to take my meds. I was thinking I was taking what I brought from home and took all 8 pills instead of two. Now I was concerned about having a diabetic coma in the middle of the night. I lived, it is over and that is the short version of it, for real.

I knew it,,,,,,,,,Ed was running prescription drugs across state lines,,,,on a bus no doubt, lol

Drug runners aren't allowed on this website,,,,,,I'm calling for the three vote rule to ban him. The Roundtable will meet tonight [minus Ed] and discuss this outrageous infraction!!

No wonder you hired nurse Sandy - hope you pay her lots. Maybe you should have taken the bus straight the to the Cleveland Clinic.

Too many subliminal messages on this thread. lol
The first two legs of the trip were not Greyhound, they were a Brand X subsidiary, I think. The equipment wasn't all that bad and neither were the drivers. It was the passengers. yikes.
