Had the ball joint recall worked today at the dealer, naturally the center cap retainers broke.
The dealer said there were 55 on back order. Anyone else in the same boat? i.e waiting for center caps?

I'm prepared! I have 8 sitting on my prowler parts shelf. 6 New and 2 repaired. I've never had to throw one out yet have fixed every one. They work fine. I have a couple on back order also, when they did my Ball joints ( April)

Got the word from Boyd Coddington today...
My New Wheels were shipped yesterday..
No more plastic caps for me and I have 8
to put on my Xmas tree this Season..

The old wheels will be hanging in the garage
where I can watch them peel and pit..

And best of all I won't have to call "Kevin
The Computer" at the DaimlerChrysler Customer
Assistance Center ..

I got really tired of the center caps breaking all the time. I believe the center caps are the weakest link on the Prowler. I solved the problem by buying a set of billet aluminum caps from Shimmers. They where a little costly, but they solved the problem once in for all. The quality was surperb and they fit perfect.

The Billet Caps are the ONLY way to Prowl... they last forever with a limited LIFETIME warranty. Remember as soon as you get some more new OEM plastic ones, they are subject to break again and again and again.

The Billet Caps appear to be expensive, but this expense is only once... they will never have to be replaced again. Figure it out over the next several years how many you may break and then there is the possibility they will stop making them and then the price will really go up... maybe higher than the Billet Caps.

Also there is an additional benefit of installing the Billet Caps... that very cool nostalgic Hot Rod look with the open, chrome lug nuts.

More information is available by calling 800 669 3540.

NC...Which wheels did you get? Were they expensive?

I am seriously considering new wheels someday, but they have to look better than the stock wheels, which are a perfect match for the car IMO. It's just that the chrome quality is horrible on the stock wheels as we all know by now...
