Block buster, aka: SUNKIST (cool choice-but I still like Fuzzy Navel) Drill two 1-1/8" access holes (one each side)into the rear face of the frame crossmember using the existing holes in the vertical plates of the hitch assembly as a guide. (I used a hole saw attachment with an electric drill-need that extra power a cordless drill doesn't have) Drill four 7/16" holes (two each side) into the bottom of the frame crossmember using the existing holes in the horizontal plates of the hitch assembly as a guide. Insert two nut plates into the access holes (one each side) and align them with the 7/16" holes in the bottom of the frame crossmember. If you need more instructions, let me know, I'll post here or email for you. Good luck! Kendra This message has been edited by prowlerbabe on 10-05-2002 at 12:50 PM |

Blockbuster, Tami, and Kendra - just installed the hitch today on the Alley Cat. Took MadMax and I four hours, several beers, swearing, bs ing, and some laughs to finish. Done deal now. Curtis, aren't you missing two nut plates left in the bottom of the frame of your old cat? Can't see how you could get them back out after once dropping them down into the 1 1/8" hole???
Did any of you 'plug' the 1 1/8" hole you drilled into the frame??? MadMax concluded that water would enter the hole and over a long period of time could cause corrision to occur. Max cut the bottoms off of some small plastic bottles that fit just perfect to plug the holes up. After setting the nut plate into the hole to bolt up the bottom of hitch plate, the holes become useless. Just a thought to ponder ------------------

AC: Glad to hear that you got the hitch installed! Did you have it chromed? Bet it looks good! Good idea about the bottle bottoms - didn't even think about that. Very good point! T |

Tami - not chromed, but going to put a strip of polished stainless on the facia going across the hitch for that appearance look. Removed the decals and placed them on the underneath side of the hitch. While we had a good time installing the hitch, I wouldn't want to do it everyday. The BEAT goes on,,,, |

Hooray for AC! I knew you could do it. If it weren't for the beer, swearing & bs ing, I bet you could have had it done in 2 hours. Hope I get to see the Alley Cat some day. Kendra |
