GRROWL POA Site Supporter Prowler Junkie From:Herndon, VA |

It was a eureka moment - I discovered the cure by accident! I was on my way home when it started to rain. If I stopped, the rain would get inside. I JUST KEPT GOING and pulled into the garage. The windshield was wet, GRROWL's insides were dry. The cure for leaky tops - JUST KEEP DRIVING! (sounds like a bad Sandra Bullock movie, doesn't it?) - GRROWL |

Its weird, if it starts raing while I am driving it doesn't leak. But if for any befoe it stops I have to roll down the window or open the door then the top begins leaking even while I am driving. |

I'm sorry, I left out an important point - THE TOP WAS DOWN WHEN IT STARTED TO RAIN. Apparently, the airflow is such that at about 30mph, either the rain hits the windshield or goes over the back -the passenger seat was dry even though the top was down for about 5 minutes while it was raining. - GRROWL |

Alley Cat left out an important point too... he only drives his car with the top down at midnight during the summer months. |

Roger, good point! He drives at night, not to beat the heat, but as a courtesy to the rest of the population. It is part of the "Help Beautify America" campaign. Keep ugly people off the roads during daylight hours. |

I'm not so sure about staying dry if you keep moving. The day I took delivery of my prowler i was headed home with the top down and couldn't out run the approaching rain storm. Guess what? The water came right around the left windshield post and right onto my left leg. So when I see rain coming I pull over and put up the top. It does'nt leak. Al ------------------ |

I believe you've got something there. Probably if you drive over 50mph the rain will go over the car. I think if it's a downpour your going to get wet regardless, but I noticed after my Carlisle trip on the Pa.Turnpike that at 65-75 MPH there were no bugs at all on the windshield and the air flow goes over the the passenger compartment. Last summer I was taking a drive to Sarasota on I-75 and ran into an absolute torrential downpour with the top down. I was tempted to stop under the next overpass to put the top up, but realized that while driving 75 mph, not one drop got me or the inside of the car. Thank goodness it stopped raining before I had to stop. I was really amazed! New reason for trying to beat a ticket while driving fast in the rain - but officer - if I drive UNDER 75 - I'll get wet! |

Blackal, Let me see if I can grasp the concept you are espousing. If it is raining and you are driving with your top down you don't really don't get wet UNLESS you put the top up.. Amazing! And the fella on the Pennsylvania turnpike only gets bugs inside his car if he is doing less than 65.. I heard tell of a fellow who adamately said you will never get hit by a fast moving freight train IF you can't hear them. It absolutely awesome what you can learn on this web site.... |

I've been a cop for 23 years and never heard that excuse for speeding. But I can also say I never stopped a Prowler. ------------------ |
