Some of you have removed your rear splash guards.

moparmania, If you remove them, no one will ever know you had them on. It is just a few screws. They attach to the taillight assembly. Really simple.

Nice to see another Canuck on board. I was in Winnipeg a couple of weeks ago on the coldest day of the year there. It was minus 30 and it doesn't matter if that is Celsius or Fahrenheit - it was cold. Came home the next day to Toronto and had the top down and temperature was in the 50's. Spring is just around the corner.

Ed, I think he's talking about the fender guards that are on the front of the rear fenders.

moparmania, from what I know there held on with double sided 3M tape, Chrysler wouldn't have spent the money on them if they didn't serve a purpose. It looks nice without the guards but you better have splash guards dragging the ground on the front fenders or the rear fenders will take a beating, I'd pass on removing the rear guards but it's your cat.

The front guards are held on by 3 bolts. They will not leave a mark if you take them off but you will have a lot of stone chips down the side of your car unless you never drive it. I would advise leaving them attached. Mine were attached by the dealer before I bought the car. Why do you want to remove them?

Ed, I still think he's talking about the guards that are on the front of the rear fenders, I guess we'll have to wait for a reply from him to know for sure.

If you do not have front mud guards on your car don't even think of taking those off, the fender will get destroyed. If you do have guards on the front I dont think too much damage will ensue unless you have altered the bottom of the flap as some of us have done.

Moparmania - I have front mud flaps and considered removing the guards from the front of the rear fenders. As a daily driver, my car sees all kinds of weather. Just looking at the guards when I am standing there pumping gas or when washing the car, I can see why Chrysler put them there. There is always something on them, that otherwise would be scrtching the rear fender.

As a suggestion, you might want to message Bill Gallagher. He removed his quiet some time ago.

Happy Prowling

Al, I guess the moral of the story is not type and watch the Super Bowl at the same time. DUH. I agree with what Marty said, there is always dirt on the rubber guard. If you don't like the look, get it painted to match your car. AL, I have covered all bases, now. I should have caught on when you said it was taped on. DUH again for me.

Mine have been painted for over 13,000 miles and to my surprise they only have a few small nicks.

I have seen one without that had 3M clear protective film on and it looked great and would reduce the risk of damage.

ED, so funny.

I took mine off a couple months after I got it. With over 20,000 miles since removal, there are a couple small chips on the rear fenders (which have been easily repaired with touch up paint) but no real damage. I have full-length untrimmed front mud flaps. I would not remove the rear guards without the front mud flaps installed. The rear fender guards were something I had planned on removing before I got the car. I personally prefer the cleaner look without them and I was glad they were easily removable. I still have the guards to reinstall if or when I decided to part with the car.

I have to agree the car looks MUCH better without the black showing. First time I ever saw your pictures. Looking good.
The $ 9 chrome treatment is door edge guard on the fins of the grill. Looks WAY better than it sounds.

Ed - You could have told Moparpania that it is the $9 Alley Cat Chrome Grill Treatment System (plus a $10 one time user fee charge). Do I have to give you $1 for each paid user to say it??? Thanks buddy,,,,

Bill G. - agree, the cat looks real nice without the fender protectors. I can't personally go the front mud flap (JMO) and could see the damage coming without them. Wish I could do it.......
