Installed the new Clod Air Intake 2.1 w/ EGR Bypass this morning. Ran the 0-60 time before and after. Stock Intake box = 4.41 Cold Air Intake = 4.13 This was just done on a back straight road with a digital stop watch... I could feel the car seems to "pull" harder for sure.. With the gears, it usually chiprs in second but the tires squealed in second and the backend shifted to the left.. Kitty is RUNNIN' now!!! ------------------ |

Fred - Thanks for some before and after date. I have installed the original MTD Cold air intake and have ordered th heat shoield and bypass upgrade. I have "felt" better performance but never measured it. Noting your times 0-60 and your 12.9 second quarter mile time on your banner, I assume you have either NOS or Supercharger? What other performance mods have you done? Thanks Marty ------------------ |

Yes, Kitty is bottle fed. She also is running the Prowler Pro gears and Smitty glass packs. Here is a link to my page of modifications.. http://www.lordofthelooks.com/f.henkel.htm ------------------ |

Thanks for the information. BTW - your appearance mods look great!! I have glass packs also and had muffler shop make an "X" pipe. Also just added gears - Wow, they are fun. If Nitrous makes the additional difference in performance, I guess that should be the next thing I look at. Thanks Happy Prowling Marty ------------------ |

Rich, I don't believe you'll regret it at all... I had to drive up to Columbus yesterday to map out the Cruise routes and meet with the Fair people and catering folks for our September Event. I really noticed that the car seemed to cruise a lot smoother on the freeway also. I relate it to having a stuffed up nose, you can breath but you don't know until you blow it, just what FREE breathing is like. ------------------ |

Bill, Congrats on your new product. Possible to compare with the Mac system, and stock filter replacement by K&N? ------------------ |

I am working on a comparison test between the Prowler Intake System 2.1, the Cold-AIr Intake, the Mac Intake, the K&N stock replacement and the stock airbox. I am trying to find a way to test the intakes and remain unbiased. I hope to make it to the track tomorrow night to test the stock airbox vs the Intake System 2.1 and then maybe in subsequent weeks, try to test others. I have added .pdf files for the installation instructions for the EGR Bypass Kit which can be downloaded here . You will need to use Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the files which can be downloaded here . This message has been edited by William Gallagher on 08-28-2001 at 09:28 AM |

Hey William G., For a comparison between these various intakes why not use a flow bench instead of going to the track? A flow bench will give the best resolution and eliminate most variables in determination of the least restictive intake set-up. JMO ------------------ |

Fred, Just a thought, but maybe you could run that same test with the bottle off. That would give the people without NOS or Paxton an idea of what this could do for them. JP ------------------ |

My Dyno Butt is failing me. I can hear that the Cat is breathing better and the engine seems to be running smoother. But I have only noticed a slight change in perfomance over stocj with a K&N filter. The problem is I have been pulling my trailer allot since the installtion and really have not given it a good test. Unfortunately I have no prior performance figures to compare against. I do think it has improved by gas mileage. ------------------ |

Just got back from the S. Texas cruise and DEFINITELY improved my gas mileage as well... almost 22 miles to the gallon. WOW not bad! Also have noticed a moderate amount of performance increase. ------------------ |

Hi, everyone seem to be talking the K&N now. A while back it was Macsport. What the difference and has anyone experienced both of them? If so, notice any difference? I was about to go MACsport now I am wavering again. I am not real mechanical so these are tough decisions. Both look to be reasonably straight forward installs... am I right? ------------------ |

Carl, I had a K&N in the stock air box. Purchased the Prowler 2.1 intake from Magic Touch Designs. You have to remove the stock air box.Removal / Installation took me about two hours. You have to jack the car up and remove the side panel. Be sure to note where any shims are located when you remove the panel. (do it slowly) You are working in a very confined space which makes it harder than it normally would be. It was extremely hot and humid when I did mine so it probably took me longer than normal, because the sweat was getting both into my eyse and all over my glasses. ------------------ This message has been edited by BeWare on 09-19-2001 at 04:36 PM |

Rich- I took mine to our Prowler Tech at MidPark C/J and he installed it in an hour and they charged me $50.00 (1) Hour labor. Got to watch and get my hands dirty as well, but he knows the Kat inside & out, so why not! JMO ------------------ |

Hey JP, no I haven't hit the track at all. There isn't one locally to me and I just don't feel like going by myself.. I have now been invited by the Viper guys to go with them as they are renting out Rivercity drag strip for their Viper/Corvette Challenge Finals in November. Last time I did that I only lost to a Hennessey 650 HP Viper by 1.3 sec. He turned a 11.4 to my 12.7.. With a few more changes I've made since, it should get even better now.. ------------------ |

Fred, I know this will tear you up inside, but please run your car WITHOUT the NOS on to see what it does. Just once. That will show other people what this intake will do for them. Granted, it will depend on the other mods you have done. Please list those. thanks, ------------------ |
