Was wanting to see if anyone had advice on which years to avoid. Looking for a couple, not a Z06, don't like the look of the hardtop |

I owned a C4 and have a C6... Personally, I'd stay away from a early C5 as they had driveline issues on some. You might find good info to help you at: |

I have a C6 2007 Indy Pace Car. 22000 miles. I rarely drive it. It’s in immaculate shape. I have had a few issues with it. Oil leak at 18000 miles. Now the Harmonic Balancer wobbles. This is an expensive fix. Will be getting it fixed next month. Parts are not that expensive, but the front end needs to be completely disassembled. Labor cost is high. Corvette rides great. Handles well. Lots of looks. Fast enough. |

I have owned 13 Corvettes; C3 (1972, 1980, 1981x2), C4 (1984, 1990x2 ZR-1), C5 (1998, 2000 FRC, 2001), C6 (2006, 2007, 2008). My favorites are my C4 ZR-1s just because those are such special cars. But, the C6 has by far the best quality, is most comfortable and makes for a reasonable daily driver. The Cadillac XLR is a sister to the C6 as they were both built at the Bowling Green facility.... seems a lot of Cadillac engineering and luxury technology was shared with Corvette. The C6 is noticeably tighter and quieter than the C5. It's amazing how much cargo space a C5 and C6 coupe has and the fuel mileage is fantastic especially for the horsepower. I've no personal experience with C7, and have absolutely no interest in the C8. The C5 is overall reliable, and like most any other vehicle, has it's quirks. The only real C5 issues I had were the notorious electronic steering lock failure and the pop-up headlights... and, I lost the back-lighting for the HVAC control; another common issue (can be expensive to fix). My wife's 2008 C6 was her daily driver until about a year ago. That car currently has 123k miles and has provided years of relatively trouble-free service. She still likes that car so much that she kept it as a weekend toy rather than trade it toward her new vehicle. |
