I have always been fascinated with Steam Locomotives especially this one just due to its shear size. They called it The Big Boy. This is like Legos but not 5th actual Lego brand. 1608 Pieces. This was a pain to assemble because the instructions kind of sucked. I purchased this off Amazon. The first one was missing allot of pieces Since it was purchased 5hrough Amazon I could get a replacement removed the pieces I need to finish and return the rest no-charge. I had to glue some pieces to get them to stay together. I’m not sure the scale but I’m guessing it’s around G Scale which equates to around 1/22. The model car also in the picture (work in progress) is 1/24 scale. I am happy with the way the way the finished products displays. This message has been edited by BeWare on 07-21-2023 at 09:14 AM |

Well apparently this is smaller the 1/24 scale. According to what i have read and my calculations the locomotive and tender were 133 feet long. A 54 Chevy is roughly 17 feet long. The Loco and tender would be as long as not quite eight 54 Chevys. |

If you are ever traveling I-80 at the Illinois and Nebraska state line, up on the hill overlooking I-80 and the MissourI River in Omaha Nebraska is this place Lauritzen Gardens - Omaha Botanical Center There is a beautiful botanical garden and up a set of stairs are two trains on display. One is the largest diesel electric ever made and the other is the Big Boy, the largest steam engine ever made. Pictures do not do the Big Boy justice. http://www.lauritzengardens.org/about/kenefick_park/index.asp |

Union Pacific currently operates Big Boy No. 4014 which was restored to operating condition 3 or 4 years ago. Something to see alright! |

This model Big Boyis around 1/48 scale. If it was green same scale as the car in the foreground it would be twice as big and between 5 and 6 foot long. |
