I think he is selling that Ford and knows the car quite well. This is the other evening when I got the 3 Pontiacs out. Wonderful styling. John |

Early this YEAR, a guy most stupidly raced his GEN II viper against an Acura here in Dayton. His Viper went over a manhole cover and one wheel lost all traction. Sending him hard right, and wrecking his viper. Look it up for a, kind of, laugh. While driving by the old General Motors Chevy S10 pick up truck plant, now a holding parking lot for wrecked cars, I saw that viper sitting there, sticking out like a sore thumb. And surrounded by other "collector" cars . Old model T's, old classics, that had been wrecked. Here is another reason to worry in DAYTON OH with my classics. http://www.whio.com/news/local/dayton-2nd-worst-city-country-drive-report-says/OFMEWALCBNH5LJJPBOAKYP63L4/?outputType=amp John |

Another situation to be aware of and it's serious. Many of the replacement parts for our older cars are no longer available from the OEM. MOPAR, FOMOCO, GM, DELCO. They are being reproduced in China, Japan etc. I just replaced the rear axel bearings in my Bonneville. They were $129 each from some off brand. My Pontiac Mechanic said they would last , maximum 10 years. On a little drivin car. We found some produced 20 or so years ago, $279 each. Mike said that they would last the rest of the cars life with how little it would be drivin. We also had a brake booster rebuilt $400 bucks, New (China) single stage master cylinder. Put it all together. The parts used internally in the new Master were from China and the wrong length. Mike is fixing. My brakes were smoking when I got home. Had to flat bed it back to Mike's. You can not trust anything not produced by an OEM, or a reproduction house. Even a shaft off by .01" screws up these brakes. Also, I had to pull the Power Top motor off my GrandVille ( Sold!). Made by DELCO in Dayton, Ohio, It was date coated 1970. Was the original scissor top motor. Lasted 53 years. Wow. Eight lugs, which are rare and expensive, appear to have survived the extreme heat. Some mechanics will not warranty their repairs unless you use OEM. John, somehow I missed meeting you in Gatlinbutg. |
