Well, So I asked about what you drive your cars, collect your cars, invest in your cars etc. for. Having over 100 Models as a boy, building so many Monogram, Revell, AMC etc models, I have always loved cars. I usually buy because 1) I love the looks and 2) the way they drive, the feeling they give. Recently, I purchased a car as an "investment". It is the one on the far right. It is a GMMG, Pontiac Collector's Edition Trans Am (CETA), one of one built. 506 HP, built by Matt Murphy at GMMG, I think it has the chance to be a supercar in the future. But it should not be driven to reach that value. Thus the Delima. The last owner put 63 miles on it over 17 years of ownership. It has won many shows. Best of at The Trans Am Nationals. It is spectacular to hear, sit in and Drive. Truly unique. Now, do I drive it, or let it sit? I have put over 200 miles on it in 3 months. Yikes! There are no mufflers, only a specialized Chambered Exhaust designed by Matt Murphy (Was at SLP Engineering) with 3.73 gears, it is a beast. I now have 7 cars and am going to pick up another one tomorrow. I've run out of space. Should get rid of 2 or 3. I've worked so hard to get them in "cross Country Shape". Some not yet done to where I want. Everyone of them, simply a gas to drive and for me, look at The little Solstice on the left, just picked up for Shelley, she picked it out, GXP, 260 HP and the 80 year old Street Racer out of Detroit We bought it from put the GM Computer upgrade on it so hitting about 290 HP. She loves it. I will pick up an SSR Tomorrow. Again, Shelley really loves the newer ones (Except the Viper which scares her) Now, do I Rotate into some of the newer ones, out of the old ? work till I'm 80 and buy a building to store them in ? Haha, seriously wondering what to do. The American flag above all that American Muscle is classic, for me. Thanks! John This message has been edited by Stray Cat on 02-27-2023 at 08:18 PM |

Great collection John! You have some hard decisions to make. Do you have any leads on storage else where? You have a lot of house sitting there, one of those side wings would make a nice garage. Just saying! You bought Shelley a fun car, she has some skin in the game now. LOL |

I LOVE that collection!! Maybe find some property and invest in a building with a partner. They could take half, or more if you don't need it. Make yourself a dominant partner(75-25) Let them pay for the building!! Buy em out, flip it, Hopefully as it works out you could keep growing a legitimate property portfolio. It ain't gonna happen overnight but I know 2-3 guys who have done this. If you shop around a bit there maybe 1/2 vacant buildings people are sucking wind on because they can't afford it because bought something too big. Might have to sell 1 or 2 to get the ball rolling but if I needed a spot...... |

Thanks All. Gary, yes, so very hard to decide what to do. Will they increase, will they decrease? Should I care if the collection continues it's way up ? Chris - wish I had some of the smarts of some of the people on this site, in our group. I should seek out someone who wants to invest with me. Having a warehouse/place to go and keep these would be wonderful. Real Estate such as this is hard to come by here and expensive! But thank you all for the nice comments It is hard to have all these and keep them up properly, like I like to. Cant wait to get the SSR. Will now fly out Friday and drive home Saturday. Bob, I have 5 of them in my Garage. I am picking up another Automotive lift and will be able to stack another , so 6. I have two of them at a store and Lock, which I hate as those are not temperature controlled. So I have to figure it out. Sell a few etc. BUT our son says that he will store one in his garage if I would build a pad to park another car next to his Garage and that will cost about $4,000. I could put another lift in Matts garage and then keep all 8. See attached pic! John |

Pay for the concrete and buy another lift. A few dollars upfront but your son benefits from the concrete and the list still works. The Pay & Store is gone money each month. How many months does it take to pay for the concrete and lift? |

here is a thought SELL, SELL, SELL Sell your house, buy a piece of property and build a Barnaminium Since it is just you and Shelly now, a large barn with lots of storage and living quarters to accommodate the 2 of you and family when they visit. I would love to sell my house and build a 60'x80'X 16' building and have all the space I need but with Sue I'm not moving her again unless I absolutely have to. At one point I wanted more vehicles but now not so much. The ones I want mean some need to go. Ok some need to go no matter what! If you don't have room to build at current locations and kids have room then that could be an option but not having them at home makes it more difficult. I have to rotate what I want at home since I don't have room here and haven't decided if I want to build another garage to bring them home. ------------------ |

You have to do something John. Having an odd number of collectible cars is bad luck. 8 is a lucky number! |

If I'm your son and made you this offer for storage/ with concrete pad. The long term storage fee would include I get to drive them occasionally also. Just saying Dad. LOL P.S. The trouble with making room for 8 is, what happens when 9 & 10 come along? You know it's going to happen, look how fast you got to 8. I think you need to start garage shopping and hope it comes with a nice house. This message has been edited by garysss on 03-01-2023 at 01:33 PM |

Great collection, John, really love that picture! I was lucky that I had quite a bit of property out here in the country that I could build my garage on. As the collections started to grow, I was getting concerned with what I was going to do with them all but I really didn’t want to get rid of anything because I worked so hard to get them in the first place. My decision was not to sell anything and just add to the collection when I could afford it. |

Well, I would LOVE a Barnaminium, of course. But the house in those pics is financed, with a 2.6% loan. Payment on what I owe is ridiculous - the location is amazing and well, Shelley loves her home. So, we stay. I have a shed 18X12 that I just added insulation and heating A/C. So I am getting anything that is not automotive related, out of the garage. Wish I could afford a garage, and I could if I sold 3 or 4 cars. But, Like TL says, you work so hard to get the cars in shape (that 1966 Bonneville, I am soooo upside down on. TriPower, Headers etc. The seats in that car are power, with Headrests and a reclining passenger seat. SOOO very rare , I have been told they are worth a ton. Who knows) Gary - yes, Matt could drive anything I put over there. A new twist is that Shelley is really getting into the "newer cars" . Of course, I have realized since I bought my second Prowler, these are "newer" but not "older" cars. But they ARE older cars now. She wants to drive her Solstice, of course (I MUST admit, that little car is an absolute GAS to drive) and she is really excited about this SSR I am picking up tomorrow. She wants both available to drive when she wishes. Which means they are at home. But I can put two at Matts Home. I am honestly thinking I have gone overboard here. Maybe have just 5, all at home and then she can park her daily driver in the garage. We will see. I originally posted to see what everyone thought about which cars are for fun, which ones should be investments etc. We all, I think enjoy driving them, which does reduce the value. But increases the smiles. I bought my 2nd Prowler with 2750 miles. It is almost at 8,000 now. 2 years later. And I love that! I worked myself into a corner, I have space for eight cars and I have eight cars. It doesn't leave any room for projects for example, no spray paint, no cutting or grinding or long-term stuff. I work on other things besides cars and welding has to be done outside. This message has been edited by padroo on 03-03-2023 at 11:19 AM |

Damn John, I couldn’t find the time to dust them all, lol I am on the fence about putting up a metal garage on a pad and moving my lift into it so I have some breathing space in the main garage. I hate stacking as the one on top never gets any love(at least here). I am at 5 vehicles but only 3 for fun. But I like them all inside but the pickup has been out for awhile. |

I have a few in storage now. Hate that as I have my garage heated and cooled, humidity controlled. Those nothere are in Storage. Wish I could put a garage in my yard. It is too many cars to take care of like I want to. We will see. Most likely sell a few, but which ones ? AND, well, I'll start a new thread. John |
