That was a great story. I remember all the fuss about the Turbine Car. I have a picture of the one at the Chrysler museum. The automotive industry was heavily influenced by the aviation industry back in the day more than most people know. Thanks Dave.

Excellent! Thanks for sharing that with us!

GM also had turbine power cars. I drove a 'F' body (Camaro) in 1984 that had a Allison Gas Turbine (at that time a operating division of GM) installed. It could run on most anything, even waste oil from restaurants. It drove and rode like a regular car but was a little poky off the line....It was one answer to the fuel crisis. GM also had a modified diesel engine in a Cadillac that ran on powdered coal. Again, an alternate fuel since we have at least 200 years of coal located in our great nation!

Great video. When I was watching it I kept thinking I’ve seen this car before but I think this may be the car I was thinking about. GM’s Firebird lll concept car had a turbine engine too.

Summer of 1965,,,,,the bronze Turbine Car came off the Interstate into my home town in Nebraska.

While I had seen pictures from car shows before,,,it was thrilling to see one on the road traveling. Too bad Chrysler couldn't get the engine build down to a couple of thousands of dollar, because they would have sold many.

Just too cool and LOVE the color of that Chrysler. Ford did a Thunderbird in 1965 I think it was in that color. I am partial to it, for sure!

I had a neighbor who was able to get one for whatever time they would loan them. All of us kids used to hang out near his house just so we could hear him fire it up.
