The Nickel Plate Railroad closed. So did the Penn Central and the NY Central. The B & O was sold to the C & O. That is no longer in existence either.
Bangor & Aroostook folded their tent.
Louisville and Nashville (L&N) is gone. Norfolk and Western is kaput.
The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe is only a memory.
I am not sure about the Lehigh Valley R R.
Grand Trunk, Illinois Central, and Reading R.Rs are all gone.
This is just for Goro, who thinks a company going under is extremely important to all Prowler owners. And yet, life goes on.
Most of the companies that built stage coaches are no longer in business.

Never heard of them, until now. I'm surprised they lasted this long and I didn't know it.

I still prefer when they wear shirts that say 'GUESS' there ... can't quite figure out why I get slapped for saying things like: 'oh ... I'd say 34C ... or like 36DD' ... isn;t that what we are SUPPOSED to be guessing?!?

I was in the elevator the other day when it stopped on the 5th floor. A beautiful young lady with rather large attributes got in beside me and said "Push one please". Apparently I pushed the wrong one. Good news is that I was able to see a little bit from my right eye this morning so the swelling must be going down. Hehe. Jer

Those railroads didn't shut down, they were merged into larger systems.

As to the Santa Fe, it merged into a system called BNSF, which most people think stands for "Burlington Northern Santa Fe." What it REALLY stands for is "Big New Santa Fe"!

I am sure SEARS will be purchased by someone, also. The Craftsman brand is worth some serious $.
Amazon is starting to open more brick and mortar stores, go figure!
