I had a 1982. Loved it, but hard times hit and it was repossessed. That was the last car I bought new! |

In '67 I went with a new Firebird 400 instead of the Camaro. Much nicer looking (IMO) and the Poncho 400 4bbl 335 hp was what I was looking for. In '82, bought a new Camaro Berlinetta edition for the ex-wife......absolutely the 'worst' new car ever bought,,,during the first year it was in for warranty service 'seven' times,,,all for leaks: Engine oil leaks, twice P/Steering leaks, twice Transmission leaks, twice Radiator leak, once......that was the final blow, traded it in on a Toyota Supra that went 140,000 miles w/o an issue. Last Camaro, '69 complete resto job done to perfection, was an awesome car but the 5-speed Tremec shifting and 8 mpg were the negatives: This message has been edited by ALLEY CAT on 09-26-2016 at 09:46 AM |

My '82 went about 2 years, 50,000 miles before it got repo'd. Only problem I had with it was 1 water pump replacement, which was par for the course for GM products of that era. It was a good car, wish I still had it. |

AC that 69 is beautiful! Had a 74 traded a 70 Grand Coupe Barracuda big block AC pw car. What a stupid move. The camaro had 40,000 miles and JUNK. 3 speed manual Trans and the clutch was bad so they put a new clutch in it and I took off for Detroit at Christmas time, well clutch issues still continued, then had heating issues, rust issues. Had a buddy that was to fix rust and he got hit taking it to the garage he worked in and it smashed the rear 1/4 and broke the windshield. Got it fixed and sold it. JUNK! Wish I had kept my Barracuda it was a much better car. But I only had it a couple months, at that time I was working at Chrysler and living at home with mom & dad so if I had a car for 6 weeks was a long term deal. Bought the Grand Coupe when my 72 Barracuda got hit after owning it 1 1/2 weeks. Instead of having the other guys insurance rent me a car went out and bought the GC. thought it was cool with the big block, houndstooth interior, over head console, AC, pw and 6 way seat ------------------ |

This was my 1969 COPO Camaro 427/425 cast iron w/M-22. I first saw it in 1979 when it had 64 miles on it, 1/4 mile at a time. It had already had the 8 point cage, mini tub, and Dana 60 rear in it by that time. I became the owner in 1989 and sold it in 1999 with about 10L miles on it. This car to date probably has less than 15K miles on it. It has never been a daily driver, never been wrecked, and has seen zero rust. I have first right of refusal should it ever come available again as a friend still owns it. This car won it's class in the Washington D.C. World of Wheels three years in a row in the early eighties. YES, I miss the car some days. The sidepipes are the real deal Hooker Headers with all four tubes going into the side pipe. The entire exhaust system was Ceramic Coated but still got a bit warm if one wasn't cautious and a calf came in contact with it. The tires were Mickey Thompson Sportsman's and the rear were 31-16.50-15's This message has been edited by alrtg on 09-26-2016 at 04:35 PM |

A/C,
1961 Chevrolet Impala Bubble Top Coupe (Either one of 2 I had) In 1974 I looked to buy a new car (Something I have not yet done). It was a 1974 Plymouth Duster. 360 V8, 4 Spd, Buckets, Fold down rear seat, Sunroof, factory mag wheels. I imagine if I had the ability to store them for all these years, I wouldn't be able to get my investment back out of them if I included the costs of storage and maintenance on them. As much as these cars bring in today's market, they are still for the most part reasonably priced given all the costs involved over the years to keep them in shape or restore them properly. The problems with those 70's Firebirds and Camaros made here in Norwood were legendary. They rusted out around here before they were paid for. Out West in the DRY heat they held up a lot better, I am sure. It was always said here, don't buy one made on a Monday or a Friday. Supposedly if it was being built for a co-worker they put a red rag or something similar on it so they knew to do the job correctly on that car. |

These are pics of my 76 Camaro. Bought new in 1976 from Farenkopf Chevrolet, Garfield NJ. Car is L/N & has led a pampered life, is all original with the exception of 1 repaint 5 years ago. Never any mechanical problems w/it and still drives like the day it was driven off the showroom floor. I'm original owner and has been w/me for 40 years now.
