I had a 1982. Loved it, but hard times hit and it was repossessed. That was the last car I bought new!

In '67 I went with a new Firebird 400 instead of the Camaro. Much nicer looking (IMO) and the Poncho 400 4bbl 335 hp was what I was looking for. In '82, bought a new Camaro Berlinetta edition for the ex-wife......absolutely the 'worst' new car ever bought,,,during the first year it was in for warranty service 'seven' times,,,all for leaks:
Engine oil leaks, twice
P/Steering leaks, twice
Transmission leaks, twice
Radiator leak, once......that was the final blow, traded it in on a Toyota Supra that went 140,000 miles w/o an issue.

Last Camaro, '69 complete resto job done to perfection, was an awesome car but the 5-speed Tremec shifting and 8 mpg were the negatives:

My '82 went about 2 years, 50,000 miles before it got repo'd. Only problem I had with it was 1 water pump replacement, which was par for the course for GM products of that era. It was a good car, wish I still had it.

AC that 69 is beautiful!

Had a 74 traded a 70 Grand Coupe Barracuda big block AC pw car. What a stupid move.

The camaro had 40,000 miles and JUNK.

3 speed manual Trans and the clutch was bad so they put a new clutch in it and I took off for Detroit at Christmas time, well clutch issues still continued, then had heating issues, rust issues. Had a buddy that was to fix rust and he got hit taking it to the garage he worked in and it smashed the rear 1/4 and broke the windshield.

Got it fixed and sold it. JUNK!

Wish I had kept my Barracuda it was a much better car. But I only had it a couple months, at that time I was working at Chrysler and living at home with mom & dad so if I had a car for 6 weeks was a long term deal. Bought the Grand Coupe when my 72 Barracuda got hit after owning it 1 1/2 weeks. Instead of having the other guys insurance rent me a car went out and bought the GC. thought it was cool with the big block, houndstooth interior, over head console, AC, pw and 6 way seat

This was my 1969 COPO Camaro 427/425 cast iron w/M-22.
I first saw it in 1979 when it had 64 miles on it, 1/4 mile at a time.
It had already had the 8 point cage, mini tub, and Dana 60 rear in it by that time.
I became the owner in 1989 and sold it in 1999 with about 10L miles on it.
This car to date probably has less than 15K miles on it. It has never been a daily driver, never been wrecked, and has seen zero rust.
I have first right of refusal should it ever come available again as a friend still owns it.
This car won it's class in the Washington D.C. World of Wheels three years in a row in the early eighties.
YES, I miss the car some days.
The sidepipes are the real deal Hooker Headers with all four tubes going into the side pipe.
The entire exhaust system was Ceramic Coated but still got a bit warm if one wasn't cautious and a calf came in contact with it.
The tires were Mickey Thompson Sportsman's and the rear were 31-16.50-15's

No wonder Sue grabbed ahold of you,,,,,nice hair, nice car, and likes dogs!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah,,,I suppose many of us sold or traded cars that we wished we still had...

Me: '55 red Chev BelAir 2dr HT, 270 Corvette engine > lost all but one drivers license points in seven months, so I had to sell it or lose my license next. (age, 17)

My '67 Firebird 400 4speed..... never driven during the Nebraska winter months = it was pristine

My '65 Dodge Coronet Convert 426 Wedge, long throw Hurst 4sp, posi ...... black w/white top.

My '06 Viper SRT 10 Coupe ,,,, Awesome, Brute torque and the '69 Camaro restro ...... left knee just couldn't take the shifting any longer.....wimp, had to succumb to Automatics, lol

Camaro engine compartment

A/C,

Some of the one's I would like to have back would be:

1961 Chevrolet Impala Bubble Top Coupe (Either one of 2 I had)
1962 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Station Wagon.
1963 Chevrolet Corvair 500 coupe. 80 Hp, PG. (My first car)
1966 Chevrolet Corvair coupe with a Mid Engine V8 set up.
1964 Ford Fairlane 2 Door Hardtop 260 V8 & 2 spd. auto.
1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa Convertibles. I would take any of the three I had. (2 w/140's & 1 Turbo car)
1972 Pontiac Luxury Lemans Hardtop 350 V8, Turbo 350, Buckets, Console, & A/C.
The Lemans still had the limiter caps in the carb. when I sold it in 1998 with under 80K miles on it.
1973 Plymouth Roadrunner 340 V8, 727 w/reverse valve body, bucket seats & console.
1974 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400, M-22, Functional Ram Air, Deluxe Int. & A.C.
1978 Ford Bronco 351 M, Auto w/ Nodular differentials on both axles. Bucket seats & Console.

In 1974 I looked to buy a new car (Something I have not yet done). It was a 1974 Plymouth Duster. 360 V8, 4 Spd, Buckets, Fold down rear seat, Sunroof, factory mag wheels.
The sticker on it was $4,136.00 and I could have had it for $3,600.00. Could you imagine the value of that one in today's market. Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda.

I imagine if I had the ability to store them for all these years, I wouldn't be able to get my investment back out of them if I included the costs of storage and maintenance on them. As much as these cars bring in today's market, they are still for the most part reasonably priced given all the costs involved over the years to keep them in shape or restore them properly.

AC, If that Camaro had the original 302 & original trans, that would be a 80 to 90 thousand dollar car today. I have a 69 SS that is all original engine & trans in Red with white stripes, but wish I had that Z28 above

The problems with those 70's Firebirds and Camaros made here in Norwood were legendary. They rusted out around here before they were paid for. Out West in the DRY heat they held up a lot better, I am sure.
It was always said here, don't buy one made on a Monday or a Friday. Supposedly if it was being built for a co-worker they put a red rag or something similar on it so they knew to do the job correctly on that car.

These are pics of my 76 Camaro. Bought new in 1976 from Farenkopf Chevrolet, Garfield NJ. Car is L/N & has led a pampered life, is all original with the exception of 1 repaint 5 years ago. Never any mechanical problems w/it and still drives like the day it was driven off the showroom floor. I'm original owner and has been w/me for 40 years now.
