I still have the pocket watch my grandfather was awarded when he retired from Sears. Inscribed "To Chester Simon. Solid As Sears". Dated May 4, 1954

Amazon only $1 less than Home Depot for oil & Gas filter and qt of oil.

I actually bought my kit from Lowes, they had special on kit. $24.99 included 2 qts oil, oil filter, gas filter, gas stabilizer, John Deere Sunglasses and Gloves.

I don't use the rider at my place, that's women's work.

I've been thinking about signing up to one of those online dating services and specifying that I would like to meet a lady who owns a nice John Deere Lawn Tractor in top condition and enjoys mowing grass (I've got 4 acres)....I'll also ask that they send me a picture of their tractor before we go any further....

BTW.....The John Deere oil filter that Padroo posted a link for at Amazon has a part number of AM125424c because it is for a X-Class Series tractor. Here is the IDENTICAL John Deere Oil Filter being offered at Lowes for their D-Class Series.....It has the John Deere packaging and logo but the part number is different because it was manufactured for "big box stores"....Note the JD filter at Lowes has a DIFFERENT part number of GY20577....

Here's Lowes advertisement for the SAME oil filter with a different part number:
http://www.lowes.com/pd/John-Deere-Oil-Filter/1168501

BTW.....Don't go on a John Deere website and search for parts for your John Deere tractor that was sold at Lowes....You will not find anything....You'll need to search using the part number John Deere uses for tractors that THEY sold....Also....The parts book that Lowes gives with the sale of the JD tractor has THEIR part numbers.....And it does NOT have a cross-reference chart....

Here's the John Deere dealer locator website....You can find John Deere DEALERS listed, but you won't find any "big box" store like Lowes or Home Depot listed.....

dru.......

That probably explains why John Deere is called a "world-wide manufacturer" ....headquartered in the United States.

In 2016, JOHN Deere was listed as 97th in the Fortune 500 America's ranking and was ranked 364th in the global ranking in 2016. As of 2016 Deere employed 56,767 people with well paying jobs......Most of which are in the United States.

Major NORTH AMERICAN factories include:

Harvester Works (large combine harvesters) East Moline, Illinois
Cylinder Internal Platform (hydraulic cylinders) Moline, Illinois
Seeding Group (planting equipment) Moline, Illinois and Valley City, North Dakota
Davenport Works (wheel loaders, motor graders, articulated dump trucks, wheeled forestry equipment) Davenport, Iowa
Dubuque Works (backhoes, crawlers, skid-steer loaders, tracked forestry equipment) Dubuque, Iowa
Des Moines Works (tillage equipment, cotton harvesters, sprayers) Ankeny, Iowa
Ottumwa Works (hay and forage equipment) Ottumwa, Iowa
Thibodaux Works (cane-harvesting equipment, scrapers) Thibodaux, Louisiana
Horicon Works (lawn and garden and turf care) Horicon, Wisconsin
Augusta Works (small commercial and agricultural tractors) Augusta, Georgia
Turf Care (specialty golf equipment and commercial mowing) Fuquay Varina, North Carolina
Industrias John Deere (agricultural tractors; construction equipment) (Monterrey, Mexico)
Motores John Deere (power systems; 6- and 4-cylinder engines, heavy-duty axles) Torreon, Mexico
Coffeyville Works (transmissions, pump drives, planetaries) Coffeyville, Kansas
Waterloo Works (tractor, cab, and assembly operations, drivetrain operations, foundry operations, service parts operations) Waterloo, Iowa
Power Systems and Engine Works (power systems and engines) Waterloo, Iowa

Other important factories:

John Deere Usine Saran (power systems), Fleury-les-Aubrais, France
John Deere Argentina (engines, tractors, and combine harvesters), Granadero Baigorria, Santa Fe, Argentina
John Deere Equipment Pvt Ltd (5000-series tractors) Pune, India
John Deere Equipment Pvt Ltd (5000-series tractors), Dewas, India
John Deere Electronic solutions, Pune, India
John Deere Harvester Works, Sirhind-Fategarh, India
John Deere Werke Mannheim (6000-series tractors), Mannheim, Germany
John Deere Brasil: Montenegro, Rio Grande do Sul (tractors), Horizontina - RS (harvesters and planters), Catalão - GO (sugarcane harvesters)
John Deere Werke Zweibrücken (harvesting equipment) Zweibrücken, Germany
John Deere Fabriek Horst (pulled and self-propelled agricultural sprayers) Horst, The Netherlands
John Deere Forestry Oy (forwarders, wheeled harvesters) Joensuu, Finland
John Deere Reman[22] remanufacturing components for off-highway vehicles: facilities in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (cylinders, axles, transmissions, pumps, hydraulic and powertrain components) and Springfield, Missouri, USA (engines, fuel systems, turbochargers).
Sabo (consumer and commercial lawn equipment) Gummersbach, Germany

BTW....The 5000-series tractors manufactured in India are Deere's smaller "utility tractors" which represented a relatively small portion of Deere's $26.55 billion in sales for 2016. (I'd LOVE to have one!)
