I remember having one house call (age 6).....I had the chickenpox and a super high fever. My father called the family doctor and requested a house call, not knowing that doctors had ended that practice of making them. When told no, my father became furious and demanded the doc show up to the house ..... he did, but said that would be the last time he ever made one. |

I remember the doctor coming to the house when I had measles. Damn, I must be getting old... Of course when I was first starting in practice I made some dental house calls. Not a heck of a lot I could do, however. This message has been edited by Greg and Veta on 10-19-2013 at 09:29 AM |

Ac, the doc must have slipped & dropped you on your head. That explains why you are like you are today. |

Yes I remember it well. I had the measles. The Dr. was Dr. Red Bush. He had bushy red hair that stood on end. He was a good doctor and had a good bedside manner. Made me laugh. That was about 1966 or 1968. I remember the next time I got sick we had to go to the doctor. I asked why, and was told doctors were afraid of getting sued if something went wrong at your house and don't make house calls anymore. |

Yes I remember. His name was Dr. Vinci. He smoked lucky strike's. Came over to treat me for mumps. Told my mom to give me lemon and honey in hot tea with some whiskey added for good measure. |

Back in the late 50's and early 60's doctors always recommended a good shot of whisky for what ails ya. No wonder I started drinking at age 4. |
