I would like to change the oil in a 1951 Chrysler with a Fluid Drive Transmission, I have heard the oil for the converter is with the oil pan for the engine and takes about 13 quarts? Is it all drained with the pan plug? Do you drain the converter separate? WOW over 50 years in the business and can't do a oil change, pretty sad. Any help would be nice. thanks |

Should be an inspection cover on the bottom of the bellhousing, remove it, rotate the torque convertor around till you find the plug on the convertor, remove and drain. |

Hi guys: I have the owners hand book from the glove box it is a Fluid-Matic Drive Transmission, the Capacities section says that the engine oil is 5 quarts plus one for the filter and the fluid-matic refill is only 3 pints. Just found this book today and also found a service manual online which I ordered. So guess is not the Hy-Drive of 53 54 fame. Thanks for all the help. Thanks again Curtis |
