It is with a very heavy heart that I have to post that Phil Genet passed away tonight at 7:30 p.m. after a very long and courageous battle with his cancer. I'd posted earlier to keep him in your thoughts and prayers as Dave Genet had informed us that he was not doing well.

Our condolences to Phil's entire family. He will be sorely missed. Phil was a wonderful, generous and kind man and a good friend to many of us.

A number of us were able to talk with him by phone while we were at the Tulsa event and he was his usual chipper self. Dave said that he was very excited to have been able to talk to his Prowler friends. His hope was to make Woodward with his son. He will still be there in spirit and he would want us to remember him with smiles.

Some time ago, Phil sent me a link to his blog site, which chronicles his journey and battle with his cancer. He was a very courageous man who did not give up. Here is the link if you are interested in knowing more about this wonderful person..

Phil Genet

As soon as we have information on the funeral arrangements, we will post it.

Rest in peace Phil..........you will always be in our hearts.

CJ and Bob

A photo from the NJ Lighthouse Cruise in 2004. Phil lead the way & everyone knew we were coming.
Thumbs up & smiling. That was always Phil, that was his trademark along with his UK or straw hat covered with pins.

He could make ANY event, an absolutely incredible one which you will never forget. He inlfuenced my life that same way.

Phil... I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU. Prowl on my brother, Prowl on.

So sorry to hear that Phil has passed away. We were hoping and praying that with God's help he would find a miracle here on earth. But that was not to be, God needed him more. Patty, know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers and that Phil is finally at peace.

God Bless you and your family,
Tom and Pam Gulyas

Dear Phil:
Having never had the pleasure of meeting you in person, but being a POA member and a stage 4 Survivor I feel a close bond to you, God and Cancer, in a way only a cancer patient can express his feelings I know that you will understand my prayers and thoughts for you and the trip ahead of you. Many many of the POA members provided their support for me 2 1/2 years ago the prayer strength of this club is strong as I am sure you already know we are all praying for you.

God bless you Phill
may the Lord heal your illness and make you whole again

We had gotten a call earlier tonight regarding Phil's condition. CJ originally posted that he wasn't doing well. At the time, he wasn't expected to make it through the week. No one expected to lose him tonight.

For those that had the pleasure of meeting Phil, you know what a wonderful person he was. Despite all of his medical challenges, he always tried to make it to POA events. He always had a kind word and a smile regardless of how poorly he was feeling. Phil didn't want people to feel sorry for him. He just wanted to to be apart of things be just another one of the guys.

Phil, you're gone but won't be forgotten!

I am SO sorry to hear about Phil's death. I was just stunned when I read about it. We had such a great conversation with him on the phone during the car show in Tulsa. There simply is not a nicer person you could ever meet.

CJ/Bob if you get any information on funeral arrangements please let us know.

Our condolences to Phil's family. Phil is alrady missed.

Linda and I are devastated by this news. Phil was a very special man.

The following is one of the greatest eulogy's I have ever heard. I have borrowed it and changed it some for Phil.

Phil Genet was our great friend. I don't ever remember telling him that. The words that are spoken at a funeral are too late for a man that is dead. What a wonderful thing it would be to visit your own funeral. To sit at the front row and hear the words that were said. Maybe say a few things yourself.
Phil Genet and we grew older together and at times we laughed and grew younger. If he was here now and could hear what I say. I'd congratulate him for being a great man and thank him for being a friend.

Rest in Peace Phil. Linda and I know that God has a special place for you. We will never forget you. Through your example you have inspired others to be better people

God Bless you and your family
Rich and Linda Ware

I'm so very sad to read this. I only met Phil two times and I couldn't agree with all of you more - he was a friend to everyone he would meet. I think I have some good shots of him from Both Columbus and Pa. tours a few years back. I followed him back from PA and what I remember most was that cool hat he wore while driving the Prowler. But we kept in touch with the Walkie Talkies and had a blast. Having just lost my Mom June 25th I and my Dad less than 18 months ago, I know what his family is going through. He and They will both be in our prayers....

God grant him eternal peace,

John

Phil attended many events and he was a pleasure to be with. His smile and generosity were always visible at these events. For many years he supplied pins for the various events. In addition at one event he picked up the restaurant tab for the entire group of about 30 people. As previously stated many times when you purchase a prowler you become part of a large family. Phil truly was a family member who will be truly missed. It was a pleasure to have known Phil and he will always be remembered.

Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that the memories that Phil has left in so many of us will be cherished forever. He will be deeply missed by so many of us that knew him.

Phil had so much to live for,
So much left yet to do,
it seems almost impossible,
that he has left us.

If I could relive yesterday,
Just even for a while,
I'd say good-bye just
to see you smile.

But then I realized,
That this could never be,
For emptiness and memories,
would take it's place.

When tomorrow starts,
don't think we're far apart,
For every time I think of you,
You will be right here, in my heart "

May God watch over you and your family now and always. There is no wrong time to tell someone you care and love them.

Carol

Dr. Phil Genet, on the right. MEMORIES

wow,,,,,what a sad day

I first met Phil at the 2000 Route 66/Grand Canyon Tour. While having breakfast, Phil and I had a chance to get to know one another,,,,,and I knew right away Phil was a dedicated Prowler owner who enjoyed the excitement of driving his new, attention getting, red ride.

During the 2002 Colorado Rocky Mountain event,,,,Phil followed me closely for several miles, during our high-speed, sharp turning, Adult Drivers Cruise on one day of the big event. Phil proved to me he could drive his cat through some very challenging road courses.

Those of us who knew him, know of his big heart and dedication to the Prowler,,,it's owner association,,,and the friendships he built while attending many of our events. He'll be deeply missed by all of us.....

To the family of Phil Genet, you'll be in our daily thoughts and prayers. We have lost a great member and friend.

With our deepest sympathy,
Larry Salzman and Lethia Elsasser

Phil was a great guy and he put up a long and courageous fight the past few years. He attended a lot of the local Cincinnati events and almost every major event. He was a quiet guy but truly a great human being.
David, his son, called Larry & Sue Mayes this evening and told them that Phil had gotten much worse Sunday, after feeling better for a few weeks. It was his birthday last Thursday and he retired last Friday. He called David on Sunday and told him he needed him to get over there quickly.
After I talked to Larry & Sue I decided I would call him and see if he was feeling well enough for us to visit since we were in Dayton, OH, just about 30 minutes away. I called and Patti answered and said he had passed away about 5 minutes earlier. She will let us know about the arrangements once they are completed. She said some of the arrangement were already made but they had to finalize some things, of course.
If you met Phil you know he was absolutely the best. I have never heard anyone say anything negative about Phil and that is a pretty good legacy.
RIP Phil. We already miss you and missed you in Tulsa.
He bought hat pins for most of the events for everyone and enjoyed collecting them. We had a great time a few years ago on the Light House tour in N J trying to get every pin.
He came to Tall Stacks last Fall and attended a lot of our local dinners.
He would be a charter member of the Prowler Hall of Fame if there were such an institution.\
Say a prayer for him and his family.

I am terribly saddened to hear this news. When we were in Tulsa I was among some folks who had the opportunity to speak with Phil on the phone. I told him how much we missed seeing him and he seemed thrilled to speak with us and share the event long-distance. After the phone call some of us expressed a desire to pay Phil a visit if at all possible. I hate that we did not have a chance to hug and see him one last time.

Phil was one of the kindest, most gentle and generous folks you could ever know. Never a harsh word against anyone and always the first to jump in with help. In 2002 when we attended the Denver event, Marty had to fly in from a business trip and meet me there which left me to drive the Prowler from Louisville to Denver (I rarely drove the Kat and certainly not that long of a distance). I enlisted a friend to ride with me but Phil wanted to meet up with us in St Louis so he could escort us cross-country to the event. What a gentleman he was during that trip with us two females and I felt much more confident and at ease with him along side us. It's a trip I'll never forget and Phil is a man whose friendship I will always cherish. Always a smile when he saw me and open arms with a big bear hug.

To Phil's family - my heartfelt condolences for the loss and empty space he left in your family, may you be inspired by the example he left of a life well-lived.

Much love, Rebecca Usher
