It is amazing when you write a letter to Santa and wake up Christmas morning to find out he read it! Santa brought me a new set of Taylormade R7 clubs. The irons have graphite shafts (after years of steel shafts, this will be the biggest change). The driver is the 460 with the movable weights (same as the woods.) The putter is the new Rossa. All of this in the new R7 bag and umbrella and a new ball retriever that extends to 18'. Now, after all this, what impact do you think it will have on my score?

Guy, I finally figured out that the clubs were not my problem. lol
You will get more distance and the clubs are more forgiving and even if you don't hit the sweet spot, they still go pretty far. Which leads to the problem of the 18 foot ball retriever, it won't be long enough now that you can hit them farther into the woods or lakes. lol
That is a sweet Christmas gift, for sure.

I played last week and should be able to play Thurs or Friday. Not warm, but doable.
Thanks for the invite. Do they charge by the divot? It could get expensive. lol

It is expensive for non-residents. I can play it for $18 where it would cost you $149. People still come here just to plunk their balls in the ocean.

Guy-
Hope you enjoy the new sticks. I agree the flex of the shafts will be the biggest difference.

My son is always experimenting with new equipment, while I tend to hold on to what I've got. I tell him "it's the Indian, not the arrow".

Enjoy them...long & straight!

Sweet. I have the 360 irons and R5 drivers and fairway woods. I stuck with steel shafts on the irons and the medium flex drivers shafts. The biggest difference for me is that my clubs are all custom length so I don't have to crouch down because of midget clubs. It cost a few bucks but definitely worth it.

I debated on the shafts for awhile, but my swing speed is less than 100 so I went medium stiff. I shoot in the high 80s usually and my last set was 15 years old. Not sure on the stock grips though. Might have to get those replaced.

Merry Christmas Guy. Great set of clubs. I have the same but have an Oddessey putter. Hasn't helped the game out much but I look more profesional.

I figured it was easier and less time-consuming to try and buy a better game with new clubs than to work on my swing

With that bag full of hi tech clubs, you shouldn't need the retriever. I have heard that Ed has regripped his retriever three times.
