Does anyone play fantasy football? My son talked me into joining a leaque with him, Rebecca's son, and seven other 20 something year old guys. I need to show the younger generation that baby boomers - even rookies - can still hang with them! p I have never participated in any fantasy leaque and follow NCAA football, not NFL. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. |

Well...... you don't pick a complete NFL team - you "draft" players with the other manegers live online and then you choose which Quarterback, running back, wide receivers, running backs, tight ends, kicker and which team defense (you draft an NFL defense) will start for you and you get points each time one of your players scores, runs 10 yards, receives for 10 yards, kicks an extra point or field goal or the defense gets an interception, sack, or blocks a kick. So if on next Sunday Peyton Manning throws a touchdown pass to Marvin Harrison the Fantasy Football team with Peyton gets points for the quarterback throwing a TD and the team wit Harrison gets points for having a receiver catch a TD pass. Since I drafted Indianpolis as my defensive team Ed and Alley Cat - I did not draft a single player from the Bengals or the Cardinals but my son has Carson Palmer as his QB. I guess maybe I'll learn more this season about the NFL players and watch the games with more interest. My "opponent" in the first week is a 24 year old with his own daily sports radio call in show based in Lexington and syndicated across the state. It's probable a good thing for me he concentrates on colloge sports! This message has been edited by Marty Usher on 08-28-2006 at 07:35 AM |

Well you seem to be fitting in very well. I see you are picking running backs in both the second and fourth position. lol It will be interesting to see if Palmer is okay tonight. He is coming back pretty quickly from that devastating knee injury. He is the real deal. Maybe you should have taken Chad Johnson, the receiver. He was the top receiver that past 3 years. |

I am actually a League Manager. One issue with FFL is that almost every league has different rules and scoring. With that said, historically this is the order of which players score the most fantasy points each week by position: RB > QB > WR > D/ST > K > TE Of course you can always sign up on espn.com for a free 30 day trial of ESPN Insider, then cancel after you look at their draft lists. -Dan |

Marty, On my fantasy league I was number 12 out of 14 to pick. My QB is T.Brady,Bledsoe & Leinart RB's Brown,Davis,Morency,Dayne,j.j.Arrington WR's H. Ward,J. Horn,J.Jurevicius,R.Ferguson TE J. Shockey, K,Brown Def.NYG and Bills. On my other league I drafted R.Bush in the second round and I picked Portis in the first round, I was 7th in the draft out of 14. Like you, my son is the one that got me into this, but it turns out that it is a lot of fun. Who were your picks? In what order were you in on the draft? Johnny |
