Donald Trump doesn't play to many tough rooms these days. He's now the John Bishop of the world leader speaking circuit, packing enormodomes with people who want to hear roughly what they've heard before in a slightly different configuration.

Even Trump, though, will have been shocked to hear his address to the United Nations General Assembly met with gales of laughter from 133 world leaders as he claimed his White House "has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country".

The remarkably composed opening to the speech centered on one of Trump's favorite topics: the utterly incredible success of his administration on every single front, including many fronts you - and, indeed, he - weren't even aware of.

"One year ago I stood before you in this grand hall," he said, speaking with the considered solemnity of a mildly Xanax'd polar bear. "I addressed the threats facing our world and I presented a vision to achieve a brighter future for all humanity. Today I stand before of the United Nations General Assembly to share the extraordinary progress we've made. In less than two years my administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country."

At that point titters broke out. Trump noticed and reflexively darted out a "so true". That's when the titters rolled into a wider fit of the giggles. When he admitted that he "didn't expect that reaction, but that's ok," there was absolute uproar.

As we know from his reaction to Obama's roasting and Alec Baldwin's impression of him, Trump absolutely hates people laughing at him. It's fairly incredible that a speech by a sitting world leader of any country has other elected representatives creased, and even more so that the commander-in-chief of the United States went on to tell a meeting in the name of globalism that his White House "reject[s] the ideology of globalism, and we embrace the doctrine of patriotism",

That the UN Human Rights Council is a "grave embarrassment", and that "so-called experts who have been proven wrong over the years time and time again" on Israel and Palestine. Presumably they had a big game of Trump Speech Bingo going.

He also claimed that he's started building the wall (it's still in the testing stages), that he's created half a million jobs in manufacturing (more like 350,000) and that he's set records with his military spending (Obama actually outspent him in 2011.

All you can do at times like this is laugh. Ha.
