An armed society is a polite society! I've been saying that for years. When you take the mystery out of a handgun, it no longer makes someone a badass that has one. I'm not saying that it would be perfect, but I am saying it would help a great deal. My son is an Eagle Scout (and very proud of that). In Scouts we taught knife safety, gun safety, bow & arrow safety, etc. Guess what? Those kids had a respect for weapons. Guess what else? I never saw any kid get all weird because someone owns a gun. It was just like 'and so?'. Never was it a big deal.
