First in the interest of full disclosure I haven't watched either football or baseball in a very long time. When the baseball players went on strike that was it for me. I realized that they were just bunch of primadonna's, being overpaid to play a game. I also soon realized I didn't miss watching baseball and in fact I had more time to pursue other things so I also stopped watching football. I was never a fan of basketball. Now to my point. Yes the players have the right to freely express their opinions. But so do we . If you don't love this country then you should leave it, period. JMO. I hope that sports fans across the nation start boycotting the NFL teams where the payers disrespect the flag and the nation it represents, which gave them the opportunity to become rich and famous. Same goes for all other celebrities. Without the average citizens support they are nothing.

The athletes and entertainers have the right of free speech. So do I. I want to watch sports, listen to music and watch movies. I don't want to listen to their opinions when I'm paying for it. Do it on your own time, not mine. My freedom is to only support the people that I respect. |

I don't go to games and I don't watch much sports other than golf ( there is no anthem playing in golf btw) , cowboys and spurs. As soon as I see a cowboy not standing I'm done with them too. I did not see the Texans/Patriots game today ,but I would have liked to see who stood and who didn't. You know , I remember my father as a vet ( navigator on B-29 over Japan) always watched the players "actions" during the anthem and wether or not they lip synced along or didn't stand at attention etc, and based his comments on that. He also had no love loss for Ali as he saw him as a draft dodger. I am still not opposed to taking away their " soapbox". Sports are where we can watch a battle ,without the daily crap of work, life, politics. The anthem is where we are supposed to come together and calibrate being part of this great country and remember those who protect our right to do so. If you wanna make a statement about how you feel unequal do it on your time , not your companies time! You are an employee of a private company that is called a "team" and has an owner. Make your statement on YOUR time...not your teams owner's....and certainly not mine!! If you are fighting for equality by not going to the whitehouse, just think about that for a minute......! You have the chance to go to the whitehouse not because you ARE equal ....But because you are NOT equal. You have that chance because you play basketball better than anyone else!! You are NOT equal!! I could not have said it better myself... What next, SBL (Some Black Movement) will sue the NFL in court to force Kaepernick into a job at the NFL ? Hey, I got a job for you: Why doesn't the NFL hire him to raise and lower the flag at the stadium. I do not watch any sports. I never have and probably never will. I just never got into it at all - I got way better things to do with my limited time. |

What would happen if all the conservatives quit going to the theater, movies, live music and sporting events? It is constantly reported about all of the old, RICH, white men who are the movers and shakers in the Republican Party. Most of the NFL and NBA members are not old or white but they are rich. The so called movie stars are all filthy rich and they aren't old, either. In the old days a lot of the movie stars were veterans, war heroes. That is not even close to the truth now. Who pays their salaries? I guess all the old, white RICH people that they hate. It would really be interesting to see the TRUE breakdown by political party of millionaires or billionaires. I don't understand how that "rumor" continues for all of these years. The Viet Nam war series really put it on JFK and LBJ, which was a total shock to me. LBJ was talking about the "radical far left" protesting the war. Again, it is always reported that the Rep. are the war mongers but it was those two Dems who were concerned about being re-elected if they didn't WIN the war. The film clips show them saying that, it was NOT an interpretation by the film crew. That series has really been enlightening to me. Shocking by what went on in the background. Shameful. |

If American's really want to get their outrage recognized they need to write to the SPONSORS who will quickly relay their customer's concerns to the NFL when people begin threatening to stop buying their products. The NFL received $1.25 BILLION DOLLARS from corporate sponsors last year.....What would happen if Americans began demanding that the sponsors withdraw their ads if the NFL and players don't publicly apologize and pledge to stop the nonsense. Read about it here: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/nfl-national-anthem-clash-sponsors-tough-spot/
Here's a partial list of CEO's email addresses: http://www.reaver.one/nfl-sponsor-ceo-emails/
Dear Sir or Madam :
Just to make myself clear, I will no longer be purchasing your products as I will be taking my hard earned money and will invest it in a company that fully supports the ideals that this country was based upon. Until the day happens when you see the light and realize your actions are morally and ethically unjust, you can take your products and company and sell it to those you do not respect the country. NFL players may claim that they have the right to not stand for the anthem.....Fine.....Just as American's have a right to not buy a sponsor's products and to LET THEM KNOW that we won't buy their products But do they? I would like clarification on the nfls rules stating something about "being a distraction" or "not representing the team in a favorable .way". I agree that they will be the losers on this one and will will hear a bunch of crying little Dixie chicks!!!!!! ------------------ |
