The Republicans were considering but did not evoke the Nuclear Option in 2005 when these speeches were made. This shows the Hypocrisy of the Democrats in doing it now. Especially Harry Reid who is responsible and Obama who says he supports Reid's actions.

In Joe Biden's own words: an Example of the arrogance of power

In Harry Reid's own words. To break rules to change the rules is Un-American

In Obama's own words: The RIGHT to free and open debate has been taken away form the minority party.

In Obama's own words. It's more about power than fairness

In Obama's own words. It doesn't serve anyones best interest.

In Obama's own words. It certainly isn't what the patriots who founded this Democracy had in mind.

Do you really believe that judges whether from either party are not appointed mostly if not completely for partisan reasons. If that weren't the case why wouldn't Democrats appoint the most qualified judges irregardless of party affiliation? And likewise for Republican appointments.

That said what about the hypocrisy not to mention that Harry Reid broke nearly 225 years of Senate precedent? Or does the end simply justify the means? If will be interesting to see how the tune changes again when the Republicans regain control. I am sure there can be instances found when the Republicans have been hypocritical as well. But though they threatened to, they never took any measures this extreme. As per Harry Reid's own words in 2005. He broke the rules to change the rules. If it was true then, it is true now. He can't have it both ways and justify it and neither can Obama. Please tell me how you think I am wrong.
