I went back in the mill last month and part of this month working 12 hour shifts for 27 days straight and thought I would splurge on something for myself. lol
Something to do more work, what is wrong with this picture?

This summer I resurrected my wife's dads 1989 Town Car that has been sitting in the back of the second garage for ten years not running. Jobs I did under the car include, fuel pump change twice, first one was defective and that meant draining and dropping the gas tank twice. Exhaust system from the converters back. Front calipers, pads and hoses, oil change and new tires just to name a few.

I have more cars needing under the car work plus normal maintenance. I only have a ten foot ceiling and I think the Kwik-Lift will do what I need and I can park a car on it.

It is coming from Tulsa Oklahoma and should be here in four or five days.

I also bought a Harbor Freight Daytona 3 ton floor jack which should lift the Kwik-Lift nicely. The Daytona goes lower than most jacks and goes up higher than most every jack on the market and it is heavy duty.

They recommend 10'6" min. for the double park lift but as posted can be done with shorter cars like the Prowler & corvette.

Be careful with quick lift, buddy had his freshly restored AAR CUDA on his and forgot to put in park, well once it hit the garage door that was open part of the way and damaged the door and the back of the car it stopped.

As tall as Dale is the lift would be nice but he would have to duck a lot with the lift not all the way up.

I would still prefer the lift over the quick lift, then 2 cars could be parked in same space and as we age getting back up after getting on the floor takes more time.

So what are your plans?

What do you want to lift?

Have a 7000 lbs double park standard lift. Want a larger one that my truck will fit on ( one I have the wheel base on truck is same as the length of the lift )

If you plan on something other than prowler on it get the larger lift, get the longer aluminum ramps for low car clearance (getting old sucks, steel ramps get heavy for old man) a jack that rolls in the center to lift the wheels off should be on the list

If you have 220v the pumps work faster but 110v are good enough since it isn't like a shop where time is important and changing cars several times a day to work on.

Several different manufactures and prices, Greg Smith has a wide variety of lifts and know several people that have them. Then you have those that claim made in USA, safer and painted pretty colors. Get what fits your needs and budget.

But really think about what it will be used for.

I knew nothing when I bought mine, made suggestions for those that bought same brand after I did. With my new building hope to get the larger lift next summer. Then I can have all the cars in new building with both lifts

I want a lift where I can stack 2 cars. Cars I'd stack would be Prowler, Repro Cobra and or a Camaro. I also want to be able to lift a 53 Lincoln, 46 Lincoln and 62 Chevy all full size and heavy. Proably between 18-20 ft. long. Have a full size extended cab Tundra possibly would want to lift.

I don't know if I could get away w/2 post? Probably need 4? I have 220 so that's available to power it. I don't want to make mistake by going 2 small. Portable to roll around? Don't know if that would do it so 4 post if I have to. Cement poured for floor was meant to install heavy duty lift if I wanted to go that way any comments would help. My height 6 foot 2 and would like to be able to stand pretty straight.

With the bridge Jack you can lift suspension on a 4 post and much easier to put on. Getting old sucks so putting the lift arms under and getting them right. Have you ever seem a car come off one?

post are good for working on cars but not so for storing. You don't want suspension hanging

I have a BendPac HD-9XW four post lift that I purchased in 2016. I couldn't be more happy with the hoist, BendPac people, or the company I had to buy it thru,( Big Boys Garage Toys). I got the hoist, Portable wheel kit,2 Drip trays,20 Quart oil drain on wheels, heavy duty 3000# sliding jack cross member, powder coated black (option at the time of $250.00) 110 volt, (had choice of 220 volt for same price), shipping included. Under $3700.

Things I like. 9000# lift, 17' long ramps, I can walk under car and ramps when the lift is all the way up. I'm 6'1", It is 100" between inside of posts. Fits all of my cars with no problem. My widest car is a 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS. I choose the 120 Volt because I have the option of moving the hoist anywhere, even my neighbor's garage. Yep that's right, neighbor's garage. Believe me this hoist with the wheel kit on it will almost move itself. A one person operation. The 120 volt motor takes 20 seconds longer to go all the way up with a heavy car on it than the 220 Volt. I came home this past spring after all winter and noticed a small drop of oil under the hydraulic cylinder and called Big Boys who called BendPak and 3 days later I had a new cylinder, no charge. Told me to keep the old one they didn't want it back. They also offered to send someone over to install it. You will need an engine hoist, couple of straps and a good friend to assemble. The hoist weights 2040#. Very simple job. Look it up on the web. Kinda long but I hope it helped. If you need any other info send me a PM.
