Picked up a 2001 Mulholland today up in northern California. Money was just wired and it will be here in a few days once the paperwork is done for the state.

15K miles, 100% stock except the largest stereo I have ever seen stuffed into a Prowler. The trunk is basically just amps and speakers are all upgraded.

This will be the new DD as my commute has gotten brutal and I needed an automatic and man I miss my last 7 or so Prowlers.

It may get wrapped two tone once it gets here, but it needs new tires and a timing belt before I do anything stupid with it.

I was going to wrap the Viper in purple/black matte fade but decided to trade it in instead.

First - I love the blue!

Second - can we get some pics of the stereo installation ? I for some reason love to see the work that others have done, especially when it is something this extreme.

Well shipper called and they are getting it tomorrow. May be here as early as Saturday.

Been ordering parts left and right to get it perfect when it gets here. New timing belt and tensioner, new tires and some more of the ceramic coasting after I polish out the paint.

Photos to follow, I am getting antsy I have not seen it in person yet.

Robin I saw that one, I think that is the one that might have been with my car.

Sop good news, it got here and it is in really good cosmetic shape. All of the bushings are good all of the rubber is fantastic top is in great shape.

Bad news P0601 error code when we started it up which means new ECU. Good news they gave me a 30 day warranty on the car. I have no idea how it got past inspection or through the smog check as that takes about 6 restarts to get it to come up and unless somehow the magic 6 was when we pulled it off the truck this morning.

No real issue though they will fix it for me under contract. Hopefully there are a few ECU's left in dealer stock.

So glad you received your car.
Here is a very recent thread that will help you with the code.
There is no dealer stock ECM .
At this time only PS has them $$$$$$$

Read the thread below there has been a development as of late thanks to many members trying to figure this out .
Scott has first hand experience he will gladly share with you in the thread.

Very wise of you to have something in place to protect your purchase.

Well might have been a easy fix. I found a loose ground cable and a battery that was reading 10.7. Loose injector ground as well.

New battery, cleaned the clamps and looked though the books I have for all the grounds and cleaned them up and greased them correctly. Greased the suspension while I was in there.

Started right up and no more code. Also no code when I plugged in the reader. Cycled it on and off at least ten times. We shall see if the fix holds but I think I was only seeing 10.7 at the ECU when I measured which would cause a P0601 as well. Car has been sitting for years.

Ordered a full set of Falken tires after I confirmed that the ones on my car are original. Will do the timing belt and a few other things in a week or so when all the parts get here and I settle down from all the weddings I have to go to these weeks.

Need to pull the baffles on the exhaust as well once I can find my right angle drill.

Robin thanks for the info. I will be calling them tomorrow to send in the ECU if I can get some time to pull it.

I got a set of Pirelli tires today for a song for the rear and a set of Yokohama's for the front that have a similar tread pattern holy tar does it drive better now that it does not have 20 year old runflats.

Tire's actually cracked when they were removed they were hard as a rock. Seriously if you have original tires throw them away now.

Pulled the dash and taped up the MIL light. At least I don't have to see it staring in my face when I drive to work tomorrow. Added the Velcro bits like in the old says to kill the squeaks. This one was not doing it but its cheap insurance and it was already out.

Timing belt this weekend then maybe ordering a wonderbar to make the handling a little more neutral and then I move onto making the stereo really shine. I have more AMP's in the back then I have ever seen but the door speakers are OEM for some reason and the head unit while fantastic is not up to snuff. Subwoffer in the foot-well is decent and the speakers near the backs of the seats are very high end.

Got to love having a project. Also ordered some 48x48 samples of some Vinyl for the two tone project as well. I found a bass flake green that is interesting that is real similiar to the snakeskin on the viper but with big flakes.

So stereo bits arrived today. nothing to fancy just the wire I needed and a new dash mount.

The parts on this car are out of this world for 2002 when it was installed. Alpine/Eclipse all reference level or above. The door speakers in my old stereo books show at almost 1100$ for the pair about 800 for the decklid speakers and even the little tweeters in the dash are upgraded with something I have never even seen before.

Of course they were all installed by a drunk squirrel though. I had to rewire a good chunk of it to get it to all work correctly and well the stereo in the dash was completely loose and all of the crossovers were rattling around in the doors.

All cleaned up now.

Before.

This was SERIOUSLY cheesy install. Non of the wire were marked and it was moving in the mount and rattling like crazy and just terrible terrible install.

After.

All the work behind the dash is worth the effort though will make troubleshooting in the future even easier.

Amplifier install is all cleaned up and now and has new carpet and screws so they are no longer sliding around.

Carpet was still being glued down in this photo a bit. Wires are now marked in the back as well and the gain and cutoffs are now working.

Subwoffer in the passenger foot-well was clearly done by a different shop as that was perfectly fine. Also the tweeters in the dash are hooked up to the 20 watt outs of the stereo and not the amplifier but I can live with that transgression for now.

Also found these and iwth a little modification they work. I also glued in all of the screw captures on the door skin mounting and that no longer makes noise. Fixed a loose window switch.

Ordered ~100sqf of dynamat extreme and will pull the entire interior next weekend and the car will be 100% ready for daily driving use.

Still need to figure out how to increase the gain on the Bluetooth on this stereo as it is a aftermarket MTX unit that uses the AUX ports. The sound quality is terrible and the DB reduction is almost 15 from the CD player.

Internet Cat Tax as required by Imgur to post.

Tires are on as well.

EDIT
Removed the photos as they did not automatically resize on the site. Will have to fix it on my end.
