So, I have now had the Prowler for 2 months, bought it almost 6 months ago but took a while to receive it, in my (short) experience, what have I learned so far ? The prowler is a gas guzzler The engine is NOT underpowered You MUST be a good/responsible driver People can’t stop taking pictures ! People are very respectful of the Car The car of 1000 smiles Kids go crazy Engine revving requests! Everybody thinks it costs allot more than it does It’s a cruiser I keep F***** the hardtop every time I take it out Be prepared to be very frustrated by other drivers on the road Be also prepared for everybody to make way for you in traffic Filling it up with Gas is also at times annoying I get butterflies every time Everybody is your new friend People in UK keep thinking it’s a KIT car Very easy to clean I am scared straight of scratching the flame paint job My GF feels like a movie star You can go crazy on customising it Do paint the interior bits FUN

When your filling it with gas, try not sticking the nozzle all the in, back it out a little and hold the handle. |

Great summary and I agree almost 100 % with all of it. We have been talking about the car for 17 or 18 years, the politics keep changing (but seem to stay the same). God save the Queen. |

My GF feels like a movie star It’s great to have something that gives you pleasure, but it’s even greater to have something that gives those close to you lots of enjoyment as well, when she enters the car she always makes sure to fix her hair and put on sunglasses, she knows there will be loads of pictures taken, she says it really makes her feel like she is a star with all the people looking at us … I don’t have the heart to tell her it’s the car, not her, let her have her moment !

quote: "You MUST be a good/responsible driver" Carlos,,,here's where we may differ some, among other things, lol Yes, you must be a good driver......while learning that the Prowler right front wheel is exposed to traffic, curbs, signs, fire hydrants, etc etc I remember one young couple who bought a Prowler, and within a few days made a right turn and jumped the curb and took down a sign pole......tearing up the right front A-arm suspension/fender/wheel. You need a week or so to learn to drive these cars. Also, removing the sunvisors and windshield wipers greatly improve road visibility (use several coats of Rain-X)
Carlos,,,from my observations, she looks like a movie star without you or your Prowler... She doesn't need you, and she could have done better finding a Lambo or Ferrari owner, lol. This message has been edited by ALLEY CAT on 10-01-2015 at 10:23 AM |

Well I thought with this being his 3rd wedding he might have more control, but then again that might just be the problem. |

Great post and you nailed it…. Once this car gets under your skin (And it is).. for most it’s a Life-Long obsession and deservedly so. You will care for it more than your girlfriend, work, or just about anything else. To me, it’s a once in a life time experience that only Prowler owners really get… Enjoy the smiles as that will never stop...Congratulations and enjoy!!!… |

Good summary of your 2 months of able to drive your cat Your GF / future wife is beautiful, so she wants to look her best in all those pictures. The pictures never stop. Still to this day get pictures of the car driving down the road, at stop lights or parking lot. As far as filling with fuel, I find if the front end is down and right side up slightly it fills better. This gets the inlet to the tank to where it is at its highest point. If the back is down and front up the tank inlet is lower and then the gas backs up in the neck easier. Hope you understand my explaination. As far as being thirsty, well I get 17-19 mpg around town, 20-21 on highway. Might not be the best but it was my economy car till I got my Mustang and now it gets the best mileage of all my vehicles. AC's suggestion of removing the sunvisors & wipers, the sun visors do help some, but I run mine for years without them. But he lives in AZ and it hardly ever rains there, so no windshield wipers are not a big deal for some, but from what I have seen about England I would not advise doing this for safety. You will get use to it and then it will not be as much of a problem. A front and rear camera might be a good addition for parking and protecting the nice flame paint. Color does liven up the interior, good choice in painting, but also remember that sometimes KISS (KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID) comes into play. Modifications can be over done. Hope you enjoy your 3rd time as much as you are your Prowler. There will be difficult days but at the end of the day step back and admire what you love about it! ------------------ |

quote: She sure is, still not sure why we settled for a guy like me .. and I can't wait to take my car back home to the Azores, people there will love it also
quote: I see, I will try to remember that
quote: I guess I just got used to the european cars again and their low mileage, heck when I was in the State my car was a Grand Cherokee limited, and I recall I was getting 14 mpg on that thing .. but then again, petrol was $0.95 per gallon ... good times !!
quote: TBH I don't believe you can actually do that here, it will fail the M.O.T. (annual car test)
quote: Already fitted front and rear parking sensors and a rearview camera, but my biggest fear is vandals actually scratching it, there is a known incident here of a couple of months ago of some guy that was filmed keying a Aston Martin .. check it out .. cringeworthy !!! Why do people do things like that ? beats me
quote: True, as a product designer, I am a firm believer in keeping it simple, but the prowler interior is a little bland ...
quote: You bet, like today I found out the battery was on the way out, as the idiot I can be I went to buy another and didn't took the old one with me, so I endup getting the wrong one, had to go back and exchange it, then with the new battery in I found out I could not tighten the negative lead as even when it's fully tighten it's still too loose, so the lead jumps out and the car dies ... need to take it to mechanic tomorrow and fix that ... frustrating .. but heck, still loving it !!
