I'm thinking of installing a set of G-Force gears on my Prowler. If anyone is thinking of selling a set (or knows of someone with a set), please send me a PM. Thanks, Terry |

Good decision! Car runs better with the gears. Should have had them from the factory. Highway mileage suffers a tad......but who cares!! |

Gears would be nice around town but on a trip all those extra RPM would be annoying especially with an aftermarket exhaust system. |

quote: I think that depends on the exhaust. We have gears and Borla exhaust and don't find the sound at highway speeds to being even close to annoying. I rode in Eddie Powell's car without gears and with Sweet Thunder exhaust and the noise was annoying after a while at highway speeds. The Powell's on a trip to the Smokies had to stop and purchase ear plugs. With gears it would have been even worse. |

I have the catback Borlas with the large diameter carbon fiber tips and the drone is bothersome, forget listening to music on the road, my son dislikes it very much, but they look cool. |

My Kat has gears and the Borla cat back exhaust. The catalytic converters are still in place and the original owner installed an "X" Pipe (rather poorly) ahead of the muffler. When I got the car it had the Carbon Fiber tips and At highway speeds there was some droning but it wasn't bad enough for me to want to change the sound. The car also had/has a Mill's rear panel w/o bumpers and the stock length pipes with the Carbon Fiber appeared to stick out way to far and I didn't care for how it looked. My solution to the appearance issue was to replace the tips with a GTX style and I am much happier. I don't think the sound changed much at all. Below is a thread where I posted photo's of the before and after should anyone be considering something different. |

After having ridden in a car with the Borla exhaust, I found that they were a bit too strong for my tastes. Especially on a long distance trip. Those 70s Mopar mufflers (originally installed on Dodge/Plymouth B-bodies) look good on the Prowler. I was very close to putting a set on my car. |

The Borla muffler is quite tight in the space given by the prowler. I found my muffler touching one of the rivet protrusions and causing a vibration at times . Had to grind the rivet protrusion off. |

I occasionally notice that on a turn I can hear the exhaust rub against something, i'm used to it after 15 years. |

Gears, for me, is a nonstarter. They are too loud at speed and they cause the car to use more gas than I am willing to sacrifice. I like getting 24 miles to the gallon. JMO. |

Hi Everyone, I'm detecting a lot of discussion about G-Force gears generating extra noise. For me the addition of an aftermarket exhaust is just confusing the issue. So I'm wondering .... Is the extra noise due only to the higher revs, or do the gears themselves also generate noise? I would really appreciate it if someone who has G-Force gears and a factory exhaust could please comment on the extra noise factor for me? |

I never found 'more noise' had anything to do with the deeper gear setup......nor did I find that I used excessively more fuel with the gears. Maybe lost one (1) mile per gallon with the gears at normal, steady driving speeds > 35 to 75 mph. On the other side,,,the smile on my face driving the cats with deeper gears is a fantastic experience.... Best bang for the buck! |

It's just the higher revs producing greater noise depending on the exhaust. The gears themselves might make a slightly different sound but not significantly louder. Here are the specs on our gears. It might shed some light on how much % higher your revs will be with prowler-pro or G force (both are pretty much the same thing): Gear Ratios Rear End 3.56 Overall Transaxle & Rear End 3.89 (Standard) Overall Top Gear(4th) 2.68 (Standard) I think you could simulate the increase in sound if you increased your revs by about 25%. For example the exhaust sound with standard gears at 2000 rpm might sound like 2500 rpm would with gears. JMO |

My Prowler drones at 60mph with Sweet Thunders and gears would bring the drone down to a lower mph, how much I don't know. |

My thanks to everyone for their valuable input and subsequent qualification PMs on the noise issue. With my factory exhaust, I'm satisfied that the increased noise will be attributable solely to increased engine REVs. Perfectly understandable & acceptable. Also I'm satisfied with the trade off between increased performance and slightly reduced gas mileage. So case solved, and I'm looking forward to acquiring G-Force gears. All I'm waiting for is the right deal. |

Is there an absolute undeniable difference with the new gears??? Noticeable performance gain??? or does it just sound louder due to the revs??? Also, has anyone experience any issues with making this change as some mods can do... Thoughts? |

Just to let everyone know ...... I've purchased a set of G-Force gears. Based on owner input, my understanding is that the gears do not generate noise other than the noise of slightly higher revs. Not a big deal to me. I'm told to expect a noticeable increase in performance (e.g. the tires will chirp in 1st gear). Just what I want. I'm also told that there will be a slight increase in gas consumption. No biggie ... I'll trade performance for gas mileage any day. Bottom line ... when I get the car out in the spring, I'll post an update on my new rumbling, tire spinning, gas guzzler. LOL |
