Hi All, First time poster here. And I wish I didn't have to post a post like this, but... This past weekend I made a dumb move and spilled some varnish in the passenger foot well of my car while transporting it to the boat. I know...dumb. The floor mat caught most of it, but a good portion got onto the actual carpet itself. It bugs me enough that I would like to replace the carpet in the car. Options I have: Can anyone help me out with my quest? Thanks! I'm glad to be aboard. Tim |

Thanks Alley Cat! Yes, I'm thinking the salvage option may be the best option. Thanks for the warm welcome! If anyone can help, please do! I'm going to call some dealerships today and ask the parts desk at a dealer I'm going to this weekend to look at a truck. |

Welcome to the forum. Not the best conditions to start with, but - It is What it is. Personally, I would seek out a reputable custom auto/marine upholstry shop. I had my entire interior redone with suede and leather with green stitching. New carpet was a snap since they had the old carpet for a pattern. You might as well consider custom piping on the carpet edges. BillyC |

Hey thanks BillyC. You know, that's not a bad idea. I'm not impressed with the factory material anyway. I'll call the upholstery guy that redid the old boat and see what he can do. Helps that I live by a big lake! I'll still try to seek out a factory replacement for now as well. BTW, I love the color of your car! |

Welcome to the forum Tim. Have you considered making a claim on your insurance and let them worry about it? If that is not an option, depending on where the stain is, carpeting can be patched using a piece grafted from under a seat. If you really end up needing to replace the whole carpet, I have one but it won't be cheap. Don't forget to make a donation to the site when you get a chance. You will get a star beside your name. |

Thanks beachcat! I must say, you guys are super friendly. Yes, I'll make a donation for sure, to keep this forum alive and running well. I don't think my insurance will cover the spill. I'm going to check though. I didn't think of that. I'm interested in your carpet, though. Please feel free to PM me the price when you have time. Thanks again! |

Welcome Tim Sorry you came to us with a problem but at least you found a great place to learn about the car and find friendship that is life changing Trying to find the carpet then getting it shipped might be hard to do. Roger has one but long way to ship. I would check with They made the carpet for the trailer not sure about the car. Someone out there has the pattern. I got the carpet for my dart from them and it really wasn't that expensive. Think $150 and I got deep plush carpet instead of the factory loop and it was molded to fit. If you don't care much for the factory carpet check with custom shop and they should be able to install what you do like. I would stay away from checking on claim with insurance unless you have 100% coverage and don't mind a ding on your file. Good luck, try and make it to the smoky event in Oct and meet a lot of the owners ------------------ |

Thanks Larry! I'll give those guys a call and see if they have a pattern or not. I'm sure someone does, like you said. Gary: The car was bought by my parents in 2000 and has never left the family. My parents no longer wanted it, so I took if off their hands. It has a little over 8k miles on it and it's in pristine condition...minus the stain |

this is a formed carpet, not like the old almost flat 60s carpet, finding somebody to make one w/o a lot of seams may be difficult.most major wrecking yards can search for a used one. ------------------ This message has been edited by catfish on 08-28-2014 at 10:35 AM |

Welcome Tim. Things happen and just have to remedy the problem and move on. I do not have a Prowler yet but was actually thinking of the floor mats today, I am somewhat anal. I have put Weathertech floor liners in every vehicle I have owned since they came out. Not sure if they make them for the Prowler but if they do it would be a great investment. Going to do some research now to find out if they do make them. Take care of your parents car now. |

Thanks for the welcome guys. Yes, I also install the all-weather mats in all my vehicles, and as was noted, Weathertech doesn't make them for the Prowler. I'm going to make some calls today and see what comes up! Thanks again! |

quote: Weather tech sells mats for the Prowler. They are cut to size. They are not the digital laser cut floor liners that are like a dish. They curl up on all sides to contain a spill. I have them in my Ridgeline, I get in it all the time with dirty shoes. Just hose it down and looks like new. Oh Ya the carpet stays new also. |
