Hello - I was driving my Kat the other day and to my surprise, one of my front fender mud flaps (totally) came off as well as the screws from the fender.

Has anyone experienced this before and if so; what can I do to fix the screws being missing b/c if I purchase another front fender mud flap, I will still need somewhere to bolt it down? Thx

Thinking Larry Lord made brackets at one time.

Several owners have had this problem

Might contact Tom Mills @ Jefferson auto and get a set of his mud flaps that are 1" shorter and ask him about the brackets too

Good luck

I once lost one of my front mud flaps but the bracket stayed in place.

I bought another set of new mud flaps and they came with the screws (studs) and nuts. I substituted the factory nuts with "Nylock" nuts but only installed them on the two outer positions. I did not tighten the nylock nuts all the way leaving just a very small amount of 'wiggle' room so they could move a little when rubbing the speed bumps or other obstructions.

The center position was left without both the stud and nut again to allow for a bit more flexibility.

I held on to the mud flap that did not come off and was able to later help another member who lost that side by sending it to him.

If you lost the actual bracket that the studs slide into, you will need to source a replacement bracket.

you dont need the brkt.put mudflap in place and mark where the holes are.use some 40 grit paper and roughen up the 3 spots where the studs belong.you will need to remove fdr for this fix.get some devcon 5 minute epoxy, roughen up the flat area of stud and the fdr.epoxy the studs directly to fdr,let dry 24 hrs and your done.a very easy fix.mine have been fixed for 12 yrs and over 100.000 miles.theres 15 yrs of this kind of info on this site, all you need to do is search for it.this post also belongs in technical.you cannot buy the brkt, its part of the fdr,not sold seperately.

The brackets are simple to make. It helps if you have one to copy. Larry Lord used to make them. Here is a thread showing how basic they are. Any half decent fabricator could make one.

Thx everyone for the post and sharing of information!

I will try these approaches if I cannot make contact with the auto shop to make the bracket but I would love to be able to buy one. This was really disappointing noting the fact that I only have 13,000 miles on my KAT and it's a 2002. It appears as though the simple things are not so simple on our vehicles but I will try the these approaches...

A big thx for those that posted re. my questions/concerns.

I still make the brackets and have them in stock at $35 each or $60 for a pair..
Using my bracket (copy of the factory bracket) will give you much more surface area to bond to the fender to prevent future problems.
