Finally got around to installing spacers to get another 5 to 6 inches with the doors opening. You can get even more width if you go behind the front panels and cut off a small piece of the door stop, but I hate cutting if I don't have to. If I can't get in with an extra 5 inches then it's time for nutrisystem. There is a few people you can get the spacer from. I got mine from a guy named Bill at prowler-parts.com. Some people have used washers. Bad Idea. When you take both bolts off the bracket, you risk the actuator snapping back in the door. With this spacer which is open on both ends. you take the top bolt off and back the bottom bolt out 11 to 14 turns and the spacer slips in. Here's a pic of the spacer. |

why is it a bad idea to use washers. wrong.you still have 2 bolts that are very long.washers on one, screw that one on a couple threads and do the other,he must be getting a kickback from bills spacer. you do one bolt at a time. ------------------ |

And you put a small needle nose vice grips on the door check, right at the door. It won't snap back in. This message has been edited by beachcat on 10-02-2013 at 06:41 PM |

I thnk it is a bad idea to not trim back the door stop. Open any car door and let it 'rest' in the open position. then push the door more open. You will find that it goes a little more open before hitting the stop. If you push against the stop you apply force directly to the hinge, the door and the body. The rest position keeps this from happening everytime you open the door. If you only shim the door strap and allow the door to stop with the hinge and not the door strap the force of the door going wide open goes directly to the hinge, body and door. Trim the doors stop back slightly so this is not an issue. BTW I used two 5/16 stainless steel heat exchanger nuts. This message has been edited by MDProwler on 10-02-2013 at 06:58 PM |

quote: My door shim looked alot like the one shown. It was a tight squeeze but it was worth it. I also used the needle nose vise grips. I had been warned not to let the guide go back into the door. |

Paid 9 bucks for that spacer so my kickback must be 50 cents. Catfish must be a high roller. This message has been edited by Lexxor on 10-02-2013 at 10:19 PM |
