I had the pleasure of having lunch yesterday with Mac (Galaxie)and in our discussion several Prowler owners were mentioned and it dawned on me how much color is emphasized in Prowler discussions. I have owned a Vette and a Porsche and I don't recall the fixation on color. It seems to this newbie that Prowler owners will almost always announce the color of their car, even before the year. And when someone doesn't, the other person in the conversation asks what the color is. When I tell someone who is into Corvettes that I had a '63, they will ask if it was a ragtop or hardtop but rarely ask the color. Ditto for my Porsche. Not complaining, I'm right there too. Color on this car is critical to the discussion! I wonder if it has to do with the unique introduction and production of the Prowler. First year, purple only. Second year, purple and yellow only. Etc. The birth and growth of the Prowler was forever linked to color? By the way, I still don't know why they bothered with anything other than purple. (even the joke makes the point) |

A portion of the interest in color is the Fact & Stats page of POA has a color breakdown by color and year. Considering these facts which are readily available to all, an initial interest in color is not unusual. I have a Prowler ball cap that has one of 1597 on the back of the headband. |

No, Gort is correct. Blue is the best color. When you see a purple you can confuse it with a PT Cruiser. ------------------ |

Or possibly since most prowlers are the same (excuse that saying, excluding mods of course) only thing to ask is the Color , with other cars they have all sorts of options combinations to ask about ? Maybe ?

Static, in '99 they had red, yellow and black Prowlers, just FYI. The MAIN difference in Prowlers is the color, not much else changed between years, hence that is the reason folks ask, just like Klondike pointed out. Deep Candy is the BEST color, no doubt, followed by Orange. lol |

Ed, you forgot Purple in 99, just FYI.LOL Purple and Blue are by far the best colors. Anyone that's says different is just jealous they got stuck with one of the OTHER colors. This message has been edited by garysss on 08-02-2013 at 03:16 PM |

You sure know how to stir up a "bee nest." If you don't know by now which color is best, it is too late o educate you. |

I would think the reason for this is all the Prowlers are the same.....except the color. I have a 66 Corvette, and as you mentioned, the first questions is what size motor, then 4 speed or automatic, hard top or roadster. Then maybe eventually color. But with the prowler there's just not much else to ask. Miles I guess would be a good question

Not to mention the fact that since year has yet to be mentioned, color can often tell you what year model it is. |

To be honest, I like the red and black Prowler the best. I couldn't find one within 500 miles of my location. Mulholland blue was my second choice. I would have been interested in this Prowler ..but it's 1900 miles away. I would prefer that my rear end was not smoothed.. This message has been edited by Gort on 08-02-2013 at 06:20 PM |

Color is just a big joke to everyone but everyone talks about it. But then again, Black is the fastest at night because if it is really dark and the headlights are off you can't see it or how fast it passed you! |

Apart from color ( which has little to no importance) the 2000 model year or the coveted Millennium Prowler is the most valuable and sought after. |

Sometimes a color can make all the difference. In Feb. 2001 I went to the Zephyrhills, FL car show. There I saw several Prowlers; black, silver, and a couple of reds. Nice cars. Then my son and I went through the auction building into the parking lot beyond. Sitting there in the bright sunlight, all by itself, was an Orange Prowler. It took my breath away as no other car has done in my decades as a car lover (from childhood). The next day (Sunday) we went to the local dealer (Tampa) to see if they had one. They were closed, but there was one in the showroom window. It had the Manu. sticker on it as well as a dealer "market adjustment" sticker of $25,000! Needless to say, I didn't buy it. My son suggested that I buy my second choice, so 3 days later I bought a brand new black '01 Corvette Z06. Fast forward to '09 when I finally bought a very low mile '01 orange Plymouth Prowler in mint condition. I love it. |

How can you argue when everyone knows they sold more black than any othe color. Just by the numbers black was and still is the best color. That is a fact Jack. |
