Finally have some time to install my windsuppressr, and it really is easy. Lights up , fits well, all good. Somehow, some way, my top release mechanism and the trunk release are all jammed up, can't move a gosh darn thing. From an easy install to a p%%ed off dude. Can anyone give me some advise who may have jammed theirs up this wy. I have tried a few things, but I am just getting more frustrated. Thanks ------------------ |

did you trap the pull cord for the lid during your windsupressor install? |

I tried the cord, but it didn't budge. It seems that the top engaged the trunk before the trunk was fully closed, which jammed it all half way closed, half way open. I have tried a bunch of stuff. No luck .. Now I can't show off my wind suppressor, or the back light, or even take my top down ------------------ |

see if you can get the trunk to latch.if not push on trunk where latches are and have somebody else pull release to release top.even though trunk may not be latched.when you pull release the top should release from lid wether lid is latched or not..its possible the latch may be screwedup or the release cable is out of adjustment. ------------------ This message has been edited by catfish on 07-24-2013 at 08:57 PM |

Tom,,,,,can we get pictures of your screw-up?
Get another person to lift upward on the trunk lid lip edge while the other person works the hand mechanism...keep battling it, it might open? ---------------------------------------------------------- My problem was the from the factory, the line worker didn't install and tighten all of the bolts of the latch to the inside of the trunk, and created the problem..... So much for quality control and that final inspection card signed off by one of the CAAP workers... |

I blew a fuse using the power outlet. It is the same fuse as the trunk release. It is on the side panel next to the steering wheel. It is the third fuse down, I THINK, but it has been 5 years or so. I can't remember which one it is for sure. It is a 15 amp, I THINK, but am not positive. You quite possibly blew that fuse or knocked it loose when plugging in the WindsuppeSSR. |

If its a fuse problem , I had same fuse blow out after I put a cigarette litter inside the power. It also knocked out the radio sound. Here is the fuse location http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/020901.html |

I am having trouble understanding the issue. Did you latch the top into the deck lid before the deck lid was completely closed? Have you tried unlatching the top from the windshield to relieve the pressure on the deck lid? Was there anything in the trunk that would keep it from closing completely? Is the deck lid not latched warning chime sounding? Maybe something jammed under the deck lid hinges? Even if the deck lid is jammed you should be able to release the top. If this is the same wind suppressor that I have seen and if I am remembering correctly it required that the top release latch be modified because the mounting brackets interfered with the stock top latch release mechanism. Some pictures sure would be helpful. This message has been edited by BeWare on 07-25-2013 at 10:48 AM |

I bet the deck fuse is the same as the dash light fuse. After I installed my wind deflector my dash lights were not working. It took me a bit to figure out that the transformer that came with the kit, fit in the place of the dash light fuse, but your supposed to take that fuse and put in the transformer plug, and it will now have two fuses in it. (kinda hard to explain). Then all was good. There's nothing in the instructions about this that I could find. |

HAPPENED TO ME TOOOOO...... May have to remove black plastic bars for windsupressor or at least loosen them to remove the windsupressor. Looking to rear at the top pins take a long flat blade screw driver and manually push on the lever arm at the cable end to open latch on each side - Lift top up at rear as you release each side and then swing back of top up as normal....Don't worry about the fuses etc. ------------------ |

oops... FORGOT TO INCLUDE....The necessary fix is probably that the manual pull cable end is not in the correct position and therefore not releasing. Reinsert the plastic retainer cable back into the metal retainer-look closely as there is a flat side on plastic cable end that must fit in the slot on the metal retainer. I used a pair of vise grips to squeeze the metal retainer tabs that engage the plastic cable ends. Don't squeeze the metal tabs too close together-just enough so that the plastic cable end does not come up out of the metal slot. ------------------ |

Did all of you guys have a problem after installing the WindsuppreSSR? Is the fix you are describing to release the top from the trunk lid or to release the trunk lid itself? You have to "piggy back" the fuse on the wiring for the WindsuppreSSR. This message has been edited by ed monahan on 07-26-2013 at 02:54 PM |

This is to release the top from the trunk. In my case the manual release cable plastic colar came out of the metal retaining notch, and therefore when pulling the cable nothing was happening as the cable was not pulling on the release wire on the top pins. May have to loosen/remove windsupressor and lift trim panel at cable pull to see where plastic holder on cable is to be located in the metal notch. ------------------ |

I finally got it. It took some pulling, pushing, grabbing, and tugging( heh heh) and a little slowing down and calming down. Plus our good friend Ray ( Roge 7) was coming to visit and I couldn't have him find me in a bind. Then he would have fixed it and made me feel foolish. So I had to get it. I will take some pics in the dark and try to get them up here. Looks nice. One thing I may try to do is putting the light for the wind suppressor on a manual switch so that the headlight/ driving light switch is not the only on/ off. I took a test drive at night and the light in my rear view mirror was distracting. Really like the look though. Thanks to everyone for the help and advise. ------------------ |

So, you're saying that the fix was some pulling, pushing, grabbing, and tugging? Or are you saying it was some pulling, pushing, grabbing, and tugging on something specific? |

ok, that's cool. Others that have the same problem in the future don't need to know what to pull, push, grab, and tug on. |
