I know there are old posts about this, but nothing specific about colored LED replacement, direct replacement cross reference numbers, cost, and the places to purchase.
I googled automotive green led, but still no assurances of these bulbs being the right ones?

I replaced mine years ago with blue incandescent bulbs but they faded out in a year or so. I want to do the LED's but I'll wait until i have the dash apart again. It was a pain taking the guage cluster apart.

Someone a while back put colored lights inside their cabin. Seems like they were red, but they posted that also available were colors like blue, green, and purple. I don't remember if they were LED lights, or if they converted over to those lights vs disconnecting what was there and adding others. Pics were posted and I would assume they listed a vendor. I don't know who that was, but an exhaustive search may find the info unless someone else knows who that was.

Thanks to all.
I was really looking for LED replacements for the dash gauges. The foot wells look really cool too.
I have found replacement LED bulbs for the gauge unit.
I did red on the attached, and green on the prowler I am having painted Snake Skin Green.
Both look great, IMHO, and even dim with no problems.
Next is tackling the Tach and SG Boost gauge lights.

Thanks again.

Please post where you got them, part numbers, and cost. Someone else may need the info at some point too.

This was one of the easiest mods I have done.
To remove the dash, just put your hand on the right side of the upper dash, as close to the windshield as possible. Push DOWN, (not forward), and pull back toward you. Repeat on other side. The whole top dash and gauge bezel comes off so easy it is scary!
There is six screws holding the gauge assembly on. You also need a stubby phillips driver to remove a stiffener plate on center top. This plate needs to be removed to allow movement when checking the lights after replacing.
To replace the bulbs, remove the cardboard protector on the back. At first it appears that you can replace all bulbs without taking it off, but the bulb for the fuel is hidden under a printed circuit board. You can see the twist lock bulb holder under there, and may actually be able to change it with needle nose pliers, but since it only takes a couple of screws I choose to leave the cables in tact and lift the circuit board and replace the bulb.
Note: Unlike incandescent, bulbs, LEDs will work only one way. The positive leg must have positive. It will not hurt it, but it won't burn if wrong. The wedge base bulbs need to be removed from the base, and replaced with the wedge base LED bulbs.
After cleaning all contacts, and replacing all bulbs, plug the unit in with the right plug (blue) and test before installing. If any bulbs do not burn, just unplug it, turn 1/2 and reinstall. The only unforeseen problem I had was the foam gasket for the cabin air on top came apart when the dash was removed. Probably doesn't really need it, but Home Depot had sticky back weatherstrip foam tape so I replaced it.
The same wedge base LED bulbs work on the footwell and license plate.
The supplier I use is: superbrightleds.com
The wedge base LED part number is: WLED-xHP5 (WLED=Wide angle LEDs) (x=color) (HP= ?) (5=five LEDs)
These bulbs are a little pricy at $6, IMHO, but my supplier in china takes weeks, and I'm 68 years old, so time's-a-waste'n.
My 1999 has festoon bulbs in the rear view mirror, and I have ordered some that I think will work. I will post results when I get them in a few days.

FYI,

You can get any of the LED that you might need from this site. You do not have to go to China!

Yes, as I stated, that is the site I use.
My point was that if you have time, there are sites in China that are much cheaper, and even have free shipping. Meaning it comes to you on a ship on the ocean - LOL.
