Just curious..It seems the automatic transmission is one of the faults that a Prowler has according to its critics. I prefer automatics (senior citizen). How many would want a manual transmission, if you had a choice?

I'm guessing most would prefer an automatic.

I have no problem with the Prowler just the way it is, but if it was a option it would have been a manual.

I vote automatic but I wish it had a smoother shift.

I would like to try a stick though.

The automatic is fine. Want more fun you have the auto stick

The automatic can shift 'faster' than the manual...

Case closed

Paddle shifter for the AutoStick would have been nice though

Considering its retro design, I'd have preferred 4-on-the-floor.

I was under the impression that the transmission had a shift kit in it to make the upshift fast and firm and if that is the case a tweak in the transmissions valve body would make a smooth upshift but make the zero to 60 time slower. I am no transmission expert but I was always told that a firm upshift put less wear on transmission clutches and actually make the transmission last longer.

My left knee has been a problem for years so I probably wouldn't have gotten a stick, even if it was available.
The autostick works fine, you just need straightpipes to
really enjoy it.

I like it just the way it is. I like the firm shift which is even more prominent with gears.

The Kat is fast enough as it is. Its a roadster first. You want faster then get a Snake.

He wasn't asking about speed Bob. He was asking about transmission.

One reason I haven't bought another Prowler is no manual tranny available. Put a Hemi and a 6 speed in the Prowler and it would be "perfection times perfection"!

I love the auto stick feature!
Best of both worlds, can shift without fooling with a clutch.

I agree with Pumpkin. Use it a lot in the mountains and big, rolling hills!!

Frankly, never learned to drive a manual transmission and living in a city with tons of traffic, it seems like a whole lot of work!!

I love 4 speeds, but I really like the automatic in the prowler. I do wish the auto stick was more like my XKR and had stick motion to switch gears instead of just bump it. But I do use the auto stick every time I drive it.

I currently have two vehicles with automatic transmissions and two with manual transmissions.

I am fine with the automatic in the Prowler. If I really wanted a manual car, I would have bought a Viper.
