I was told by costco that the aftermarket tire air sensors that they put on as a replacement to the orginal does not require anything else to be bought or done to the car. The sensors will be recognized by the Prowler computer ($75 ea. good for 10 yrs in writing). They did say it might take 6 days to get them.

Has anyone ever used Costco to buy tires before?

I'm pretty sure the sensor will still have to be "paired" to the vehicle.

I buy tires at costco a lot but not for the prowler. A couple of months ago I bought a set of pirellis for my dodge ram. After about a month I got hole in the sidewall just under the tread which made it irrepairable. They replaced the tire and charged me $40. The tire was over $200.

Needless to say, I'm happy with their road hazard policy.

Is that done with a hand held devise? The tire store at costco said he would have to walk around the car and get the prowler computer to recieve the signal for each tire. I hope that's correct. I would not want to remove the dash to do anything. That might end up being a unsolvable rattle. I've seen that in Corvettes.

IM pretty sure you don't have to remove the dash unless you are replacing the TPM module. But in the event that you ever do for something else, its very easy and I doubt it would result in a rattle. Its just the upper portion. Disconnect the battery, lower the tilt wheel to its lowest position and the upper part of the dash pulls straight back.

Remember the plastic tabs on the wheel center cap? Remember how they broke off because they are brittle and remember how expensive they are to replace? That's they way a C6 Corvette is, if you break off one or two of those tabs that hold the dash in place you will have a rattle. I added the headsup display to one I had and when I sold it ,it STILL had a rattle. That's what I would expect with the Prowler, I sure hope I'm wrong. I've never tried to remove the dash but would rather not. I'm hoping Costco knows something about sensors and tires.

Yes you don't have to take the car apart to do it. As long as they have the programmer it shouldn't be a problem.

THANKS..Costco seems very knowledgeable about tires. They have some sort of training course that Michelin gives them so they can help customers.

I felt the same way when I decided to replace my speakers, but knew I had to do it. Since the first time I took the dash off I have taken it off several other times. Very simple and if you pull straight out nothing bad will happen. The first time I took it out I put a little lube on the metal clips to make it easy to get on and off.

I tried to get an estimate on tires from Costco and was told they couldn't do anything for me because first there was no run flat available through them and second I would have to buy 5 tires and put one in the front seat because there had to be a spare for them to sell them. I went elsewhere.

Who buys 5 tires? I can't imagine anyone ever wearing out a donut spare. Not sure who you dealt with but I'd have looked for that persons boss or district manager.

They were selling the 5th tire as a spare since the vehicle did not have one.

Some places will not put non run flats on vehicles that were originally equipped from the factory with them. I'm sure them requiring the 5th tire to be purchased was to keep their legal department happy.

Sounds crazy but your probably right. I wonder what they would have done with the Crossfire that I used to have. Came from the factory with non run flats and no spare. Come to think of it there are many other cars out there with non R/F and no spare.

That's strange..I wonder what all those car batterys are going to be used for? I guess you could just buy one and go out the door . That's odd.

The Costco batteries are cash and carry, they do not install them. I have bought many of them, good price and warranty.

I went to Costco several months ago and they searched and did not have any matching font and rear tires available, run flats or non run flats.

Now THAT is one of the funniest posts I've ever seen on this forum.

My question is whether the good folks at Costco recommended you store that fifth tire on the passenger's-side front seat, or that you store it on the driver's-side front seat.

I suppose the good news is nobody at Costco told you that you'd need to store the fifth tire on the BACK seat of your Prowler, but to just leave it on a front seat --- even if on the driver's side front seat.
