I have had my 2002 Prowler about two months now and Love it. It is so different than any car I have ever driven. Believe me,I have owned cars from Corvettes to Jaguars and this car beats them all. I am learning this car more and more every day as I drive it. I ran across something this past week that I'm not sure of. When I take off from a stop, the transmission really changes Great and smooth but when I start coming to a stop,it's a very noticeable thump or gear down. Is this normal?...I know I am riding right on top of the transmission and probably hear and feel things that I don't normally pay any attention to driving my other cars. If this is normal,it would certainly make me better that nothing is going wrong with the transmission...... Thanks for you responses.

The transmission does shift with a noticeable jolt. They said they can make it smooth but that wears out the clutches a lot faster, the abrupt shifts make it last longer due to less slippage of the clutches.

I get, & love, the hard punch on upshifts, don't recall harsh downshifts unless I'm doing it myself which is the most fun of all! If you have the chance, drive someone else's or vice versa for comparison.

No.....It doesn't do it every time. I think Catfish is correct...It feels more like it could be a UV Joint. I am having them check tomorrow..........Thanks

I would like to drive another one just to see if my trans works like others too. It has great stiff upshifts, smoothe downshifts (unless I go manual) but going into overdrive is super soft and mushy. worries me a bit.

4th gear is the weak link in the Prowler tranny. Don't shift into 4th with WOT.
