Hello all,
I am thinking of purchasing a Prowler, however, I don't know much about the car other than the Wow/cool factor. I am seeking any and all advice as to what to look for that would assist me to making a wise choice? Deal breaker/maker.....I'm considering a 2001 or 2002. I don't know if there is any differences other than the model year? I have noticed that some have had A/C compressor issues, and some carfax reports showing several different owners in a fairly short period of time? Thank you for any tips or concerns to be aware of in my search..
Best Regards,
Don

Looks like the prices range for '01-'02 for a low mileage one is around high 20's to low 30's I don't really want to go above 30K. As far as color, they all look pretty good, the yellow seems to have a pretty good pop to it...

I would recommend reading the PROWLER STORY on the main menu. http://www.prowleronline.com/story.php

That should answer some of the questions. There is not a lot of difference between the years. The ride got softened ever so slightly on the 2000 and newer models. Not much, however.

Just buy one and learn about it later. They are a great car and you won't be sorry. There are no glaring issues with them.

Are you into modifications or just looking for a stock prowler?

Good luck on your search Don. I bought mine on e-bay two years ago from a dealer and it worked out well.

Never heard of any AC problems either. Window regulators now that's a different story.
Here's another one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chrysler-Prowler-Base-Trim-2001-prowler-mulholland-edition-rare-only-6-k-miles-3-5-l-v-6-at-chrome-/281103821835?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item417317ec0 b

Your right Gary, the biggest problem is the window regulators, but Tom Mills has the permanent solution.

Buy a Prowler, you will have the time of your life as an owner

You can go thru the TECHNICAL SECTION, that will give you an idea as for problems. You will find they are a very reliable car.

You could also put yourself in contact with Rich (BEWARE) as he lives
near you, he might be able to get you familiar with the Prowler

If you want a GOOD education, attend the Texas event that will be going on next week. You will be able to talk to owners & find out everything you want to know about the car. Georgia isn't that far away.

Check out the classified section on here. I'm sure you'll find one in there you have an interest in. I think onecatnodog knows someone selling a yellow one. Your best bet is to find one for sale on here. Be patient. The right one will turn up.

Hi Folks, thanks for all of your replies!
What does the Mulholland edition have that's different from the norm? Is it some interior trim package? Is it something highly sought after to increase the value or not all that big of a deal?
Thanks,
Don

Mulholland is Blue with Blue top, all other colors and years have black tops. It has a Blue pinstrip from Dr Ru. No other difference from other years or worth anymore.

Don

I live just north of you in Acworth. I would be happy to either discuss with you on the phone or meet up with you and tell you everything I know about the Prowler. Heck I will even let you drive our 99 as long as I am riding shotgun. As you can see we are among some of the longer term owners. (14 years and counting)

I bought my in 2002, yellow with matching trailer, in 2005 I parked it for a while because have some health issued, soon as I have my health issues took care of it, I start riding again and just bought a red 1999 and a trailer. It is a great car, I never have any problems with it what so ever, you will enjoy and appreciate more after you purchase.

Good luck!

Thanks Sam. I just took Rich's for a spin this AM. Very fun car. Rich is very knowledgeable and gave some good pointers of things to look for. So, have to find one that's been pampered!
